Like I said, just speculation and opinions, but to me you don't fix something that isn't broken. Their defense is their bread and butter. And as far as Lebeau saying he will stay, didn't the Rooney's just say that Tomlin was not an imminent hire, and Saban say he was not leaving Miami? You can't believe what anyone says publicly.

Tomlin said in his press conference Lebeau is staying.

Why does it seem like all these "no name" coaches have been signing as head coaches the past couple of years..Mike McCarthy with the Packers last year, Cam Cameron with the Doplhins, Bobby Petrino with the Falcons (I know he was Louisville but no NFL experience), and now Mike Tomlin with the Steelers. No names taking over the league!! :wink2:

Very good! Third coach in 38 years!
We shall see!
You can see a video on www.kdka.com of the press conference. He was prepared very well for the array of questions he got thrown at him. I liked his answers too.

I agree, amazing stat. On the other hand, if this guy lasts like the others, I'll be amazed. I don't think it will happen.

Steelers introduce Tomlin as coach

Defensive coordinator from Vikings just 34

By Alan Robinson

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH - Mike Tomlin, the Minnesota Vikings' defensive coordinator, has been hired by the Pittsburgh Steelers as the first black head coach in the team's 74-year history.
He accepted the job Sunday night and the hiring was announced Monday, with Tomlin expected to make about $2.5 million a year under a four-year contract. He is the Steelers' third coach in 38 years, following Chuck Noll (23 seasons) and Bill Cowher (15 seasons).

Steelers won't be docked a pick

Steelers President Art Rooney II said today that the NFL has informed the team it will not be docked a pick in the 2014 Draft because of the incident involving Coach Mike Tomlin in the Thanksgiving night game against the Ravens in Baltimore.

For straying onto the field during a kickoff return by Jacoby Jones, Tomlin was fined $100,000, and at the time the NFL informed the Steelers that it could inflict additional punishment in the form of making the team forfeit a pick in this year’s draft. Now, that will not happen.

No one hates the Steelers more than me, but that the NFL was even considering docking them a pick over that play was asinine. The hefty fine was sufficient.
