Freshman Marcus Ernst started the rally with a two-out single before Canzone’s team-best 13th homer of the season blasted off the batter’s eye in dead center against Raider reliever Tristan Taught. QUOTE FROM COACH
“We beat a good baseball team tonight and we played well,” head coach Greg Beals said. “Our pitching staff performed well and we got some big hits from Conner Pohl and Dominic Canzone with two outs. Canzone’s ball was absolutely blistered. To hit the top of the batter’s eye with no wind in our park, that went a long way. He’s always been a great hitter but now he’s developed power this year which makes him a very dangerous player. Today was a big game for us and you need your big-time players to step up in big-time games.”

    WRIGHT STATE SCORES FIRST
The Raiders pushed two runs home on a two-out, two-run single by Brandon Giltrow to grab the early lead in the top of the second.

    BUCKS GET ON THE BOARD
Ohio State got one run in the third when Matt Carpenter pushed home Nick Erwin on a fielder’s choice up the middle. The bases were left loaded following a strikeout to keep Wright State on top by one.

    OHIO STATE TIES THE GAME
The Scarlet and Gray evened the tides in the bottom of the fourth when Erwin pushed home Conner Pohl on a sac fly.

    POHL GOES YARD
Conner Pohl launched a two-run shot with two outs in the bottom of the fifth to give Ohio State its first lead of the night.

    RAIDERS REGAIN THE LEAD
Wright State plated three runs on two hits in the top of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead. A bases-loaded walk made it a one-run game before Zach Weatherford slapped a two-run single up the middle to give the Raiders their second lead of the game.

Right-handed reliever Thomas Waning came into start the third. He tossed two scoreless innings with two strikeouts and no walks on two hits. Right-handed reliever Will Pfennig tossed the next two innings and kept the Raiders off the scoreboard with three strikeouts. Right-handed reliever Bayden Root threw the seventh and gave up three runs on two hits with three walks and one strikeout. Right-handed reliever Joe Gahm stranded two in the eighth with two strikeouts. Left-handed reliever Andrew Magno pitched a scoreless ninth to claim his eighth save of the year, while Gahm picked up his first win as a Buckeye.
