OHIO STATE-OHIO GAME TIME CHANGE TUESDAY

Buckeyes hosts Bobcats at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday at Bill Davis Stadium

COLUMBUS, Ohio
– Due to predicted weather, the Ohio State baseball game against Ohio has been moved up to 5:05 p.m. Tuesday at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The Buckeyes are 20-10 overall and 3-3 in Big Ten play, while the Bobcats travel to Columbus with a 15-14 overall record and 4-5 in MAC action.

The game will be streamed on BTN Plus ($) and can be heard on AM 1460 ESPN

Interesting defensive shakeup.....McGowan 3B Pohl 1B Dingler CF. West was at SS and Foppe at 2B with Cherry at DH. It worked. 4-0 and clean in the field for only the 5th time this season. . Jake Vance with another solid midweek outing.

Also glad to see Cherry moved down to the 6 spot for the second straight game. Just can’t have a guy in the 3 hole who Ks about every 2.5 ABs.

OHIO STATE SHUTS OUT BOBCATS, 4-0

Sophomore Jake Vance strikes out career-high six in win over Ohio Tuesday night

COLUMBUS, Ohio
The Ohio State baseball team defeated Ohio, 4-0, Tuesday night at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. Sophomore right-hander Jake Vance struck out a career-high six batters, while Noah McGowan, the Big Ten leader in RBI, drove in two runs in the win over the Bobcats. With the victory, the Buckeyes improve to 21-10 overall and Ohio drops to 15-15 overall in 2018.

GAME SUMMARY

  • Ohio State scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth on four hits vs. Ohio right-handed reliever Eddie Kutt. With the bases loaded on a 3-2 count, McGowan knocked a two-run single through the left side before Conner Pohlhit a RBI single to right center for the 3-0 lead.
  • The Buckeyes extended their lead to four in the bottom of the sixth with a RBI by Jacob Barnwell on a fielder’s choice.
  • Vance was strong for the Buckeyes on the mound tonight, keeping the Bobcats off the board for 5.2 innings and fanned a career-high six hitters. He scattered three hits with one walk to improve to 3-1.
GAME NOTES
  • Ohio State improved to 85-40 all-time vs. the Bobcats. This is the second straight year Ohio State has shut out Ohio. The team has won 11 straight games vs. Ohio dating back to 1990.
  • The Scarlet and Gray pick up their first shutout of the season tonight.
  • The Buckeyes improved to 12-4 when scoring first.
  • McGowan had two RBI tonight and now has 42 in 2018 (Big Ten leader).
  • Vance struck out a career-high six batters.
  • Foppe extended his reached base streak to 15 games. Pohl moved his reached base streak to 11 games and McGowan extended his streak to nine contests.
  • Pohl extended his team-high hit streak to 11 games and McGowan moved his to nine straight contests.
