    Bucks lose game 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team fell, 2-0, in the series opener at Michigan State Friday afternoon at Kobs Field at McLane Stadium in East Lansing, Mich. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 14-20 overall and 3-7 in Big Ten play, while the Spartans improve to 19-11 overall and 4-3 in conference action.

    MICHIGAN STATE SCORES FIRST
The Buckeyes looked like they were about to get out of a jam in the bottom of the third after sophomore Brady Cherry threw out the advancing runner at the dish for the second out, but a two-out triple by lead-off hitter Bryce Kelley off the wall in right center put the Spartans on top, 1-0. Ohio State redshirt junior starting pitcher Yianni Pavlopoulos limited the damage with a ground out to Cherry to leave two on base. The Green and White added a run in the bottom of the fourth on a two-out RBI double by Royce Ando. That’s all the Spartans would need for the league win.

    Bucks drop game 2

EAST LANSING, MICH. – A ninth-inning rally fell short in game two of a three-game series at Michigan State as the Ohio State baseball team fell, 6-5, Saturday afternoon at McLane Baseball Stadium. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 14-21 overall and 3-8 in Big Ten play, while the Spartans improve to 20-11 overall and 5-3 in conference action.

    NINTH-INNING RALLY NOT ENOUGH
Down, 6-4, senior co-captain Jalen Washington knocked a lead-off home run in the top of the ninth off right-handed closer Riley McCauley to trim the deficit to one run. Junior Tre’ Gantt followed the long ball up with a double to the gap in left center. However, McCauley struck out three straight Buckeye hitters to end the game and record his seventh save of the season.

Buckeyes shock the world, avoid being swept

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Ohio State baseball team won, 13-8, in the series finale at Michigan State Sunday afternoon at McLane Baseball Stadium. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 15-21 overall and 4-8 in Big Ten play, while the Spartans fall to 20-12 overall and 5-4 in conference action. The Buckeye bats sprayed a season-high 21 hits across the diamond en route to the road win on getaway day.

“We’ve been working offensively to be productive and have battled hard,” head coach Greg (Fire) Beals said. “The thing I liked about today, seven of the 21 hits were on the back side of the field. We stayed on the ball and hit the other way. That’s quality hitting and that’s something we need to continue to do.”

Freshman Dominic Canzone went 4-for-6 with a run scored, double, triple, three RBI and two stolen bases. Junior Tre’ Gantt was 3-for-6 with three runs scored, double and stolen base. Senior co-captain Jalen Washington was 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI and fifth-year senior Shea Murray was 1-for-4 with two runs scored, home run, walk and two RBI. Sophomore Andrew Fishel recorded his first career three-hit game in his first start of the season. Sophomore Brady Cherry was 3-for-6 with two runs scored, two RBI, double and home run. Freshman Conner Pohl and sophomore Jacob Barnwell also had two-hit days at the dish. Every Buckeye starter in the lineup had a hit, while eight of the nine scored at least one run.
