You need a dominant defense to win an NC that way: MSU doesn't have one. They might manage to win out to the national championship game, especially if Iowa is beat up, but I don't think they have the defense to match up with a team like Alabama, Auburn, or Oregon. Maybe they could win a shootout against a Boise St or Missouri. At any rate, the program isn't used to the pressure and will, I think, find a way to drop a game.
