Michigan St 64, Louisville 52 (Final)

It's so nice to see another team get destroyed on the offensive glass by State. I don't know how they do it, but the ability to get almost every loose ball is remarkable.

Great game, Sparty!

Not so sure that there'd be much between MSU and Louisville or Pittsburgh. I'd like the matchups, especially against Louisville.

I think you missed my point. On average, the leagues are not really very different and the Big Ten may be stronger because the Big East have such a bad bottom drawer. Look at the Sagarins. There is only one Big Ten team ranked below Iowa at #78. There are five Big East teams below Iowa.

Putting this a different way, if you were to draw a random sample of 11 teams from their conference, more than 60% of the time, you wouldn't get the top three teams. However, you'd be much more likely to get at least three of those five bottom dwellers. The rest of the Big Ten and Big East teams are closely bunched in the power ratings.

So, my point again is, sure UConn and Pitt seem to be really good teams. Louisville also looks good right now, but got smacked 90-57 by Notre Dame and then played out the weaker end of their schedule (DePaul, Providence, Seton Hall, Cincinnati were four of the six), so it is not clear how tough they are. On the other hand, about one in three teams is suspect, in fact, bad.

So, it's not clear to me why the entire conference is getting so much love from some of the media. That said, the Big Ten is getting a fair amount of love this year as well.

What was your point?

Louisville, Pitt and UConn are better than any team in the Big 10 and would be favored as such on neutral court

Uh, really? :slappy:

Sparty wins 64-52.

That oughta put a little dent in the Big East lovefest this week.

With Louisville scoring the last five points when Izzo cleared the bench.

This was an arse-kicking. Louisville was outclassed in every respect despite the officials letting them climb all over the Spartans on defense the entire game.

No crap... MSU's guards did an awesome job taking care of the ball while wearing an extra jersey.
