Michigan St 31 California 38 (Final)

Cal DB Hagen just laid out and picked off a Hoyer pass on an out route to pretty much seal the game.

announcers say he should challenge it that it doesn't look like he caught it.

now under review...
MSU was driving with 3 1/2 to go.

I hope Cal drops 50 on them. [censored] MSU.

they won't but they may get 45. Cals RB is imposing his will with MSU's defense worn out.

and as I say that MSU blows the run up 5 yards in the backfield.

3rd and long MSU out of Timeouts now. minute and half to go.

ballgame.

last few hoyer passes sailed on him and they turned it over.

38-31 CAL Wins.

Was impressed with MSU's effort though. Even with Ringer bottled up and a few early mistakes costing them, they hung in there and played to the end.

MSU looked like a team that is a year away still. They'll end up beating someone they shouldn't this year probably, but they won't be any better than the 5th or 6th place team in the Big Ten.....

Cal is in for a long year if they don't get their defense figured out. Figuring that USC is going to blast them either way, they still have to worry about ASU, Oregon and likely Stanford too (since Stanford seems to want to run the ball).....

They look 2 -3 years away to me starting with a new QB.
Well Keith Nichol was a stud QB recruit (from MI) committed to John L, who opted for Oklahoma after ":slappy:" got canned. He transferred back this season, and is eligible next year, after Hoyer graduates.

To me they need more help on the offensive and defensive lines than anywhere.

Cal just dominated the line of scrimmage and ran at will later in the game...and MSU couldn't open a hole for Ringer to save their life.

I only wonder how good Ringer would be with a good line in front of him.
