  • Michigan QB commit

Michigan also picked up a commitment from a Georgia QB. Thought I'd post this for a little comparison:

    David Cone

    Height: 6-foot-6
    Weight: 201 pounds
    40-yard dash: 5.12 seconds

    Statesboro HS
    Statesboro (GA)

A tad on the thin and slow side from his stats. I think we clearly got the better GA QB in Antonio Henton...

Without seeing either of them play, how can you make that assertion?

As much as it pains me to say it, scUM's staff knows what they're doing when it comes to recruiting and developing QBs.

michigan has never needed a mobile QB. As long as they continue to have good offensive lines they just need to find someone who can throw the ball. As long as he cannot read coverages I am okay this kid.

FWIW, Cone didn't make the Rivals Top 75 list of Georgia prospects; Henton made the list at #45.

Also, Cone's only other offers were Ball State and Eastern Kentucky. Michigan might have found a real sleeper here, but I know that Buckeye fans would be going nuts if the OSU staff would have offered a player with so few credentials.

Cone is over a half second slower and about 10 pounds lighter than Henton despite being 4 inches taller, and as LJB pointed out isn't even in Georgia's top 75 whereas Henton is in their top 50...that's how I make my initial assertion.

Michigan does indeed develop QBs well, but when a kid that few if any of us here commits to Michigan, it's somewhat surprising considering they usually end up with much higher-profile QBs.

No kidding they found a sleeper...the scary looking kid looks like he just woke up!

This does seem a little odd, scUM is not known for taking sleepers at QB, they usually wind up selecting from the cream of the crop nationally. Oh well, I like seeing kids get offers from big time programs out of the blue, even if it is scUM.
