Seems that some folks at Stadium & Main are very upset with their recent (and prospective) track record with in-state recruits. Particularly so with it being a year in which they had hoped to have a bumper crop of kids suiting up for LIVoyd (soon of course to be LVoyd).

How is that in the best year for in-state talent... <hr> we can't even get a freakin' top kid committed?

Washington to tOSU
Allen to FSU
Colosanti to PSU
Sawtelle to Tennessee
Nichol to MSU

Barksdale leaning to Texas
Everson going out of state for sure
RoJo? Who the heck knows anymore with that kid.


WTF is going on and why is our staff sucking ass so bad at getting an in-state kid who is any good in a year when the state is loaded?

In all honesty there has to be some serious concerns there. It is not often that Michigan has that type of class and they have to take advantage of it when they can. If god forbid I was a fan I would be shocked and upset about this.

Folks in CBus would be going ape right now if we were losing Ohio kids in this fashion. But the fact is that if you go by the star ratings Michigan is flat kicking our butts right now.

Oh8ch, you are correct on that score, and indeed such happened during the Cooper era.
I'd also look at the Scout list of commits which "SonofJorel" linked in a similar thread - one way to interpret that is that scUM is intent on de-emphasizing speed. Plus, we all know what useful indicators of performance a star rating from Rivals or Scout can turn out to be, which is to say not good at all.:wink2:

michigan is recruiting up to their usual standards, but it is nice to see them have a once in a career recruiting opportunity like they have this year slip through through their hands like the ball thrown to braylon against us as he started to look upfield a few years back.

if i had a fake account at that board i would bring up the idea of firing carr right now and hiring that english dude as coach to try and save this class.

Its amazing to me the big variety of schools these guys are going to...it definitely shows that this is a rare class for Michigan talent, and any Michigan fan should be upset about losing all of the talent...sure Michigan is recruiting well, but when you have a once in a generation class and just sit in neutral while everyone takes your in state talent, that isn't good

star ratings ignore need. Michigan desperately needs DTs, CBs, & OT's. Losing Barksdale, DA, (possibly RoJo,) and Sawtelle is a big deal due to need.

UM has been striking out for a long time on elite CB prospects (Eugene, Walls, King*, Harris, Cromartie, etc). DA is headed elsewhere, and RoJo is not a lock. 5'9" Brandon Harrison is being moved to corner to address their issues at the position.

Well the fact of the matter is that they have to deal with “Cheatypants Mc Sweater-vest” and his unscrupulous recruiting tactics. Yeah, that’s it... It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Tressel’s players get drafted higher, are better developed, and actually win BCS games. At some point his DNA is linked to the Devil’s. NCAA sanctions were are y.....uhhhhhhh...

SORRY folks, I got carried away there. I’ve been reading the UM boards a little too much. :wink2:

It’s about time they feel the pain of losing in-state recruits. As Spielman said on his show last week, the only reason they have anything is because of the players and coaches stolen (traitors) from the great state of Ohio.

that depends. According to scout, osu has an average of 3.5 and michigan 4.0.

however, according to rivals, osu has a ranking of 3.43 and michigan 3.30.

I would imagine that being a "National Recruiting Program" like they've claimed for so long has caused some piss poor relationship building with Michigan High School football coaches. When that happens, and you get a class like this one, the relationships aren't there to get the in-state kids to stay.

I think the local kids have been exposed to the ridiculous UM fans and all the negativity around the program right now. That 100% has turned them off the program. It's very obvious with a class that great all looking out of state or at their little brother. When you live in Michigan and you have no desire to stay with the home school (most winningest program or some BS like that) that speaks volumes about the local perception of the program. Michigan amazes me at how well they keep on recruiting even after they fail to develop several highly touted players. This happens at any program but UM always brings in top classes and have not replicated the resuults on the field. Spielman was right. scUM relied on Ohio talent quite a bit and since JT has kept the dogeaters out of Ohio they have been falling apart.
