I'm one of the most unusual OSU fans you'll meet. I was raised in PA (right near Maryland but still in PA, far from PSU and Pitt) where I became a buckeye fan, moved to SW M*ch*g*n and lived in MSU country (parents are also MSU fans/grads), and now am in Indiana with an interesting blend of OSU/UM fans.
My question is, do people HATE m*ch*g*n state? I understand the obvious animosity since they are from michigan, but there is a big difference between them and UM. Izzo runs a classy program, and has always been one of O'Brien's biggest supporters (regardless of recent events, we all appreciated that back in the day). With a few exceptions, they had their way with us in basketball yet handled it with a lot more class than UM ever did in basketball or football when they were the better program.
I also live in spartan country and am biased because of my MSU parents. When I watch OSU-MSU games, I do not see a lot of hatred on the field. In fact, I think we both share a common bond in hating UM, which is why you see a lot of players helping the other team up in OSU-MSU games.
Personally, I love the west coast of michigan and love vacationing up north, but I can't stand central and eastern MI. The west coast of MI are all MSU fans mostly, and the area is really pretty, whereas central and eastern MI is really boring and becomes increasingly ugly as you venture eastward.
I live and breathe OSU football, yet have never found myself hating MSU. I would say Miami, Wisconsin, Notre Dame are much more hated than MSU from what I've seen from OSU fans.
Just wanted your thoughts on this. I have never lived in a single area with many OSU fans around me, so coming to OSU games is such a blessing.
