Miami Heat (3x NBA Champions)

The Heat achieved balance tonight and they won.

When the Heat are a one man show (no matter who it is), they lose almost all the time against good teams.

It looks like its going to be one of those classic oddities you find in sports. The Heat will give the Lakers fits, the Lakers will pretty much steamroll the rest of the NBA if they are focused and the Heat will get worked over like a .50 cent whore by everyone else with a .500+ record.

Go figure.

No doubt about that. They need to add a soccer game to the All-Star Weekend festivities. Their natural prowess in those areas would draw in many new markets.
yeah, lost in last nights victory was Lebrons glorious flop there in the last 30 seconds that got the foul called on Artest and sent him to the line.......It was hilarious. They showed the replay but the announcers didn't say anything about it. Not sure if there's any video of it.

"Hilarious" would be one way to characterize it. "Game changing embarrassment for the refs" would be another. Although it wasn't as critical (and horrible) of a call as Z knocking the ball out of the cylinder with under a minute to go. If that is called (as it should have been), the game would have been tied. Instead, the Heat get the ball, go down and score again to put themselves up 4. Game over.

I only watched the last two minutes or so of the game, so maybe the officiating was bad for each team last night, but in those last two minutes, it was really bad in the Heat's favor:

1. The no-call on Z knocking the ball out of the cylinder
2. LBJ's flop and the resulting phantom foul on Artest
3. Wade grabbing Kobe's wrist forcing the ball to go off Kobe out of bounds under the Lakers basket

the refs let them be physical all night and were by and large good, until the 4th quarter when the heat was still in the game, then things changed pretty quickly. david stern probably activated the refs BW3's beeper. and for the inevitable comeback of the lakers shooting for ft's, it was because LA actually worked to pound the ball early in the game before kobe started his chuck-fest.

They killed the Spurs by 30 tonight.

the spurs quit midway through the 3rd. popovich even gave up and said just go get a good workout in.

on a side note, if that is how all heat home games are going to be officiated in the postseason, they have a chance to make the finals. that was shamefully brutal.
