Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

I saw RR's name mentioned in the same sentence as Shannon earlier. I'm not sure that is an exact parallel. Closer (IMHO) in this case would be Weis viz-a-viz the QB transfer post-Brady.

If you recall that, he basically precluded transfer to any likely opponent in the future that ND would play.

Given the diverse range of options in ND's future scheduling this expanded the pool of off-limit schools quite considerably (else Jones might have transferred say to Purdue).

Ironic, as Jones was once being spoken of as a possible starting UC QB, now also is Marve in the pot as a possible future Bearcat (Kelly requesting permission to speak with Marve? - Scout Bearcat MB).
ESPN is reporting that Kelly has received permission to speak to QB Robert Marve from Miami about transferring to UC. As a Miami fan also, this would be a huge get for UC. Marve is a former Mr. Football in Florida who broke all of Tim Tebow's records in Florida.
Still UC (Definitely an in-state school to tOSU) has a history of taking on hand-me-downs. Heck they are regularly cited as one of the choices for exiting Buckeyes seeking playing opportunities - like Brandon Underwood.

Which is doubly ironic given the second post in the earlier linked Bearcat MB thread:
Re: Robert Marve from Miami transferring to UC?

just wait until the O players start transferring.
Ignoring the "witty" use of a dollar sign because of the broken keyboard, evident proof there that UC fans have no clue who plays for their team.

Miami picked up two great players at the Under Amour game tonight. I can understand Debose taking Florida not joining his buddies, because Miami is just plain full at WR at least for several years.

It will be interesting to see what Marve does.

As far as the players, they really are only missing an o-line and perhaps a few good CBs.

I think the U right now is the verge of going up or down. I like Bill Young as DC and I think the OC hire this year is probably going to end up being the move that makes or breaks Randy. He's a guy who I think despite his game day shortfalls can control West Palm Beach on down in recruiting which will net the Canes a lot of talent.

The O-line needs to improve but I think the rest of the pieces are there for the Canes to move back into national prominence. Brandon Harris, Brandon McGee are couple of guys who I think can play CB.

The CB I think it remains to be seen what they can actually do on the field, but Harris I saw when he was in high school at BTW in Miami and that kid could flat out play (so many positions).

Antrel Rolle has da 'U' solution

In the days leading up to Super Bowl 43, Arizona Cardinals corner back Antrel Rolle did the media rounds and gave an interview to 560 WQAM in South Florida. Rolle, a native of Miami and a former player at the University of Miami, was an All-American when the Hurricanes were more of a force on the college scene.

"The Big Dog" Joe Rose probed Rolle about a number of things at the beginning of the interview, but he eventually got on the topic of the struggling Hurricanes.

"These boys are hurting. Most of all, they're hurting themselves and they're hurting the program. I think they need to get that attitude back. Go steal a couple of cars, go break into a couple of houses. Do whatever it takes just to get that attitude back. Go out there and do something bad, it doesn't matter. We'll forgive. Just bring that attitude back to the 'U'. We need it."

This truly is among the most ludicrous comments I've ever read. I can only hope this was taken out of context... maybe it was said in jest or something...

I think the blogger had a better idea.... win some fucking games.

"You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don't come into the OB playing that stuff. You're across the ocean over there. You're across the city. You can't come over to our place talking noise like that. You'll get your butt beat. I was about to go down the elevator to get in that thing"

Thug U is alive and well. They just can't play football worth a crap anymore.

Don't just stand in the white part of the sidelines. Standing in the way of teammates trying to make a play...
