Game Thread Miami (FL) at tOSU, Sat Sep 11, 3:40 ET, ESPN

I dont know about J12 one of my former players throwing for that much on an OSU def but I think around 240-270 would be awesome. They have to run the ball effectively to be successful.
I'm not even playing and I'm super hyped for this game. LET's GO GET EM'. Hopefully i can make it up with my guy Brett and we do it BIG.

Wow, this is one of the worst game threads on BP in a long time.

Anyways, after watching the Marshall game again, I'm pumped about how our o-line looked this early in the season. No big secret that's always been a slow unit to gel with Bollman, and this year seemed to be one of the best openers ever under JT. Granted, could be the competition, but I guess we'll see...

(enter Cryami smack here)
(enter pointless Buckeye comeback here)

Looking forward to the game. And this thread going away.

Buckeyes 27
Miami 17

i do see a high scoring game... you guys winning the TOP...but i think we win the turnovers....your dominant d line... how many are projected 1st or 2nd rounders( real question)... are they all expected to be high round picks ?
High Scoring... Ohio State has given up more than 30 points ... I think it's 6 times in Tressel's 10 years. It may be slightly more, but it's about 6. Given up 40 once.

Hoping for a game in the 20s is about as much as you should anticipate.

Heyward is a 1st rounder for sure. Johnny Simon will be, but he's just a Soph. Not sure where Larimore projects. Williams is a speed rush guy who probably is a LB in the league (my opinion)

te is split a lot...he will crack the end as they roll to his side then continue to drag underneath.....

we tend to use the roll out in a play action which helps draw the de's inside

If you have no running game to speak of (i.e. having to throw the ball 40 times), then Play action is worthless....

Ok.. what makes Miami's so different? Colt McCoy's Texas was pretty good at it, and Ohio State handled him just fine... albeit in a last minute loss.

OSU has very little film on it.

What kind of speed are you talking about? Quick muscle reflex of a D line (I assume not, since you were talking about speed as between WRs of Miami and OSUs DBs))? Yeah, LSU and Florida had Ohio State beat there. As for straight line speed... well... you can dig up the 40 times just as well as I can. Sounds like an ESPN sound bite to me, bud.

Football speed and 40 times are totally different.

Moeller doesn't play DE...if Moeller is sitting on #2 or #3 to field and is coming off the edge, I don;t see your TE dragging.

Again, please explain.

I saw major difference in speed with OSU against Florida & LSU, so I have to disagree with you there.
Talk about exposing your eye for football and mentality about OSU.

What relevance could 06 & 07 possibly have to do with a 2010 season? The majority of that squad was gone after the 08 season, if not before. That's like bringing up the incredible 01 & 02 squads when discussing 2005 Miami.

I also love the foolishness of lumping UF & LSU together, but millions across America make this ridiculous grouping. LSU did not beat OSU with speed, they beat them with size and strength. They pounded the rock at them for 3.5 ypc for three downs, grinding out tough yards with a very slow fullback & pocket passer. All game long they set up 3rd/4th & short for themselves and 3rd & long for OSU, largely with their stout play inside.

The only time someone got exposed by speed was the very slow (but good) Craig Steltz getting smoked by Beanie Wells on the long run. The rest was a big ten style game of field position dominated by LSU's strength. Trindon Holliday didn't do a thing.

Clutching to greatly outdated stereotypes and assumptions seems like a really foolish approach given what Miami fans hope for this season compared to the last handful.
