Miami Dolphins (Official Thread)

My Observation: Yes Richie football is different but the problem our world has changed..we have Evolved(LOL) as a society..Jonathan Martin comes from a NEW AMERICA(parents are Harvard Grads..he's from Stanford)..participation ribbons, Hope and Change, Gay Marriage, Gun Control, ..Richie has the neanderthal gene. Doug Buffone former Bear Line backer says that gene ..gives us the Dick Butkus's and Ditkas's Ray Lewis, etc. When speaking of Coach Knight he would say I would have loved to play for Knight but my son would not thrive under Knight. The NfL in response to law suits and the change in society is trying to harness the neanderthal gene. Jonathan Martin is not Aaron Hernandez and for that Richie should be thankful.

The Wells Report was released today, and it's more bad news for the Dolphins:

Wells report concludes Incognito, two teammates had pattern of harassment - USA Today

Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito was the ringleader of three players who "engaged in a pattern of harassment" of teammate Jonathan Martin, another unidentified young offensive lineman and a member of the team's athletic training staff, according to the long-awaited, 144-page report released by attorney Ted Wells' office Friday morning.

That harassment by Incognito and fellow offensive linemen John Jerry and Mike Pouncey contributed to Martin's departure from the team in October, but those teammates "did not intend to drive Martin from the team or cause him lasting emotional injury," and coach Joe Philbin and the front office were unaware it was happening, the report said.

"Moreover, however offensive much of the conduct discussed in this Report may have been," the report read, "it appears that the Dolphins' rules of workplace behavior were not fully appreciated and, with respect to at least some of their actions, Incognito and his teammates may not have been clearly notified that they were crossing lines that would be enforced by the team with serious sanctions.

It's clear Martin flipped his lid and that his weakness mentally was affecting his play. While I don't agree with the method of trying to get him back on track, it was clear that Incognito and the rest of them were trying to get him to find his testicular fortitude and man up. Clearly that didn't happen.

the thing is though, I'm pretty sure Incognito will have an NFL gig next year, I don't think Martin will....

I don't think there's anything wrong with saying that perhaps the NFL is not the right place for Martin, though maybe it's the Dolphins that are just the problem. He is clearly an intelligent guy; I'm sure he has plenty of other options in life with a Stanford degree under his belt.

I disagree with you about Incognito. He's probably looking at a pretty substantial penalty from the NFL, possibly even a lengthy suspension. Aside from his interaction with Martin, the harassment of the trainer is something that is absolutely despicable. I have no sympathy for this guy. Complete jughead.

Not to mention his lengthy history of behavioral issues. I think his goose is cooked.

Martin's case is somewhat similar to Michael Sam except without the political slant. If he doesn't return to the Dolphins, I doubt you'll see anyone want to bring in that kind of distraction. The guy wasn't exactly setting the world on fire as a player as it was....

If you're going to nail Incognito because of this report, then you're going to have to get Pouncey and whoever the other guys were that are involved. The NFL is going to be glad to let this one slide - and any suspensions coming Incognito's way are going to be mitigated by the time missed this year. An All-Pro caliber Guard isn't going to not get back in the league because of this.....you'll likely see some mandated anger management counseling/anti-bullying but that's just to appease the masses and the mediots.
