How far has this game fallen?

Both teams are unranked. It has no BCS implications. It has no bearing on the Top 25. It won't be nationally televised. The BP vBookie didn't even set up a bet for this game!!!!

The horror.

For the first time in 30 years, the Hurricanes and Seminoles both come in unranked.

By Mark Berman

Miami will square off with Florida State on the football field Saturday, but it won't have any Bowl Championship Series implications. It won't affect the Top 25 polls. It won't be nationally televised.

It won't even be a big game in the ACC.

The coaching changes the former national championship programs made after last season haven't paid great dividends so far. Saturday's game will mark the first meeting in 30 years in which both teams are unranked -- and this is the same week in which upstart South Florida is ranked No. 2.

Last year, both the Seminoles and Hurricanes finished 7-6 and unranked. This year, both are 1-2 in the conference and coming off a loss.

And Jeff Bowden and Larry Coker are no longer around to take the blame.

FSU boosters paid Bowden to resign after a shutout loss to Wake Forest last November. FSU head coach Bobby Bowden hired Jimbo Fisher as his new offensive coordinator with a total annual package of $415,000.

Cont'd ...

BTW, when was the last time neither tOSU or scUM were ranked at all when they played THE GAME?

MY best guess would be 1967 when OSU beat a 4-6 Michigan team to finish 6-3. OSU was not in the final UPI top 20 or the AP top 10 (which was all they rated that year).

30 years.

Thirty years ago would put you in the 1970s when they were both at the top of their game - in fact that would be smack in the middle of the only other time the OSU program was consistently at the level it is now.

Perhaps you meant 20 years ago, which is another possibility. OSU was definitely unranked, but I don't know if Michigan was. A 7-3 Michigan team lost to OSU and then beat Alabama to finish 8-4 and finish 19th in AP and 18th in UPI (they only went to 20). Michigan was likely ranked going into the OSU game - but I can't find anything to back that up.

Neither Miami or Florida State has impressed me this year, but out of the two, I think Florida State is the better team. I don't think Kyle Wright is the answer in Miami. I was actually listening to a talk radio show last night and some kid claimed that Kyle Wright was going to have an excellent game, just because he had a birthday the other day lol.

Kyle Wright is not great, but he is vastly superior to the two headed abortion that is the FSU QB situation.

I agree that FSU is the better team. But it is because of their defense and in spite of their inferiority at QB.
