Met AF Cadet from Lancaster

  • Was sitting at my cubicle about 20 minutes ago when this huge kid in BDUs (camouflauge uniform for you civilians) asked me if a was a Buckeye fan (I guess the 2002 NC banner on the side of the cubicle gave it away  ). He's a sophomore Air Force Cadet here on his sponsoring unit orientation. Come to find out he is from Lancaster and played football with both Bobby Carpenter and Jim Cordle. He spoke highly of both, and said Cordle is just an animal. He also said that during halftime of one of his high school games, head coach Rob Carpenter (Bobby's dad) head-butted a player in the helmet and bloodied himself good and still kept talking...now we know where Bobby's attitude comes from. The kid's name is Stuart Perlow, and plays OL for Air Force. He's quite a big boy himself...he looked about 6'4" and a good 260. It was pretty neat talking to a former teammate of Carpenter and Cordle.

Personally, I'd say he got that attitude from his mother, she seems quite insane (and was an athlete herself in college from what I understand) :).

Perlow played LB/TE in HS IIRC, he was a pretty good player

He said he started a couple games for the Falcons last year, and he thinks they have a good shot at winning the Mountain West. I checked CNNSI.com and they have him listed at 6'4", 280...I guess the extra 20 pounds was well hidden in those BDUs.

I really liked the way he talked about Cordle. That, and what we've been hearing from practices, tells me we got ourselves one bad-ass lineman.
