I've always liked them
I'm pretty sure this is the worst commerical in history. I thought Cougar was supposed to be some principled type. I'm pretty sure this has to be the most tactless, distasteful commerical known to man. What does Ground Zero, Rosa Parks, 'nam, and Katrina have to do with a Chevy truck?

It isn't so much what is in the commercial, but the fact that they feel the need to play the damn thing at EVERY commercial break the past 2 weeks....

I don't know if the Mellencamp commercial is the worst one running right now, not with the Toby Keith Ford commercials on the air. IMHO, the Ford ads are doubly worse than the Chevy ads, thanks to Toby Keith's poor lip-synching with his custom air brushed Ford acoustic guitar, which he clearly isn't actually playing since there are only electric guitars in the song.

At least Mellencamp is a competent musician who is actually playing an acoustic guitar for an ad with acoustic music in it.

BTW, does anyone know what the song is that plays in the new Pontiac G6 commercial -- the one that shows the old reel-to-reel dropping and exploding into laptops, then the stereo into iPods, and the phone booth exploding into cellphones, etc ... ?

I completely agree, that commercial drives me bonkers.

I'm a lifelong John Cougar fan, but could care less about the commercial. I do love the part when the guy has put a trailer hitch on an anvil and it is supposed to be their vehicle design. That kind of sums up the real GM design team.

Oh yeah. I f'ing hate those commericials. I might actually prefer watching a block of Summer's Eve and Pamprin commercials with my mom than watching Toby Keith in those ridiculous ads.
