Add BusinessWeek to the list of Maumee's admirers.

The publication's Web site recently named Maumee one of the 25 best affordable Midwestern suburbs, based on median home prices, cost of living, school test scores, violent crime rates, and commute time. The list was compiled with Sperling's BestPlaces, a research group in Portland, Ore.

The accolade comes after the Toledo suburb last year won All-America City honors from the National Civic League. Maumee also was listed last year as one of the "Best Places to Raise a Family" by Frommer's, and one of the state's "Best Hometowns" by Ohio Magazine.

The only drawback to this lovely little suburb is that a certain resident, known to his neigbors as "BestBuckeye", takes an extraordinarily long time to clean out his garage. He has been known to spend his entire afternoon surfing the web at an Ohio State football forum, despite Mrs. BestBuckeye's insistent reuqests that the cleaning commence.

I burned down my garage thats why we won, so the property value would come up.

the other drawback is that it's a suburb of Toledo, a horrible city, and the nearest large city is Detroit, also one of the worst in the nation. Kind of like finding the best city in Rwanda...
