Would you rather him not play? What would you propose instead? Some sort of smallball or something like that?

No I do want him to play, because if he were not in, we would have no center, and would be exploited inside even worse. That being said, it doesn't mean I have to be satisfied with the current role he is playing.

I don't see a role being "Play 5 minutes and try not to give up 2 fouls or 5 points". That's just me. That's also why I'm not a college basketball coach :)

There is no problem with him fouling, unless he is giving up and 1's. He has 5 fouls to give so a hard foul or two on the other teams big guy, might be a good thing, especially if he is a poor free throw shooter...

They aren't normally hard fouls though cbf. If they were, I might think otherwise

I'm not trying to discount your opinion. I was serious when I asked what your alternative would be. I agree that he could be better. My biggest wish is that he would play with more fire and aggression. Kind of what you said about hard fouls. He seems pretty timid sometimes.

At this time I don't have another option, and I wish I had one...

Good point, that was a "good" foul. I was talking more generally.

I know...just pointing it out, and I agree about some of his fouls being stupid, but I have also came to the conclusion that we don't need to wrory abou this fouls and he is in there to do the dirty work and if he has to foul for the guy to avoid the layup or dunk and go to the line and earn it he is going to foul them...

Part of it was me wishing he could be more. As a freshman with that height, I was hoping he would put on 30-40 pounds and become a presence.

Well I can tell you from first hand that Twig has not been anywhere short of hard work in the offseason...He works extremely hard and I just think that his body has stopped growing which has halted progression, and might just be a step below in athletic ability to some guys that we play against...

Yeah I know he has worked his butt off in the offseason. I know he hit the mark with a very low body fat % before this season. I won't discredit his work ethic, but unfortunately it hasn't contributed all that much to his productivity on the court. I'd rather him play better than get leaner and stronger.

the thing is though in three of the last four games hes played for stretches longer than 8 mins, his worst stretch in that was when purdue was able to go ahead and turn a 3 pt osu lead into a tie game. guess thats what im saying. if you really thought hed be an "impact" player his frosh year i think you were misguided...

I like Twigs, but he is limited at this level athletically but I see fundamental breakdowns on his part on the defensive end that just drive me crazy, even if a player does not have the athletic ability of others, good fundamentals and desire can go a long way.....

There's nothing wrong with expecting good things to come from a kid at a good school with a good basketball program. You don't go out recruiting kids you don't think would be impact players, unless you're Jim O'Brien taking a vacation to Eastern Europe...

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I have no problem with the kid's attitude and work ethic, but there is just no excuse for playing bad defense. If you're not athletic, then you might not be able to be as productive offensively, but there is just no excuse on the defensive end.

This is probably just me, but when I watch him closely I see alot of problems with his footwork. Offensively, he doesn't get set very often, either shooting or rebounding. Defensively, he seems to be stepping on his shoestrings half the time, which makes him look a step slow, and accounts for many of his fouls. One of his shots Sat. he actually was floating sideways on a 5 foot jumper, just wasn't set up to shoot.
