Maryland at tOSU, Sat. 10/7, 12pm ET, FOX

7. MARYLAND (OCT. 7, HOME)

Average Ranking: 6.8
High: 3
Low: 8

Maryland has never played well against Ohio State in Columbus, losing its four previous games against the Buckeyes in Ohio Stadium by an average of more than 44 points, which Matt cited as his reasoning for picking the Buckeyes’ homecoming game as his third-most confident win of the year. Ohio State will also have the benefit of an extra week to prepare for this game, as the Buckeyes will be coming off a bye week (which Maryland will not be).

Even so, the majority of our staff put this game in the bottom half of our confidence rankings, with seven of 10 voters ranking this game either seventh or eighth. The Terps gave the Buckeyes a bit of a scare last season in College Park, where Ohio State led by only one score for most of the fourth quarter before winning 43-30, and they should have one of the Big Ten’s better offenses once again with Taulia Tagovailoa back for his fourth year as Maryland’s starting quarterback.

It looks like the gametime & TV has changed......8D

While Brett McMurphy had reported in August that Ohio State’s Oct. 7 home game against the Terrapins was in line to be broadcast on Peacock, the Big Ten announced Monday that the Buckeyes’ next game against Maryland will be televised by FOX with a noon kickoff.

Just sayin': Yes, yet again Brett McMurphy was full of shit.....

I'm not sure how I feel about Maryland. The stats say this should be more of 30-14 style game but the Indiana game looks like utter domination to the eyes

I have only watched a little of them play but they look like they play our style of football. Pass first, can run but it’s complimentary and not overly powerful at the point of attack along either line. Their coach is a known in game dipshit.

You aren’t going to beat Ryan Day by trying to be better at B12 football then he is.

Pretty much my read. Our defense should match up well here, and they won't keep up with our passing attack. That said, I expect a fight here...Maryland has some players. But talent and the home field will carry the day.

Here's hoping that our DBs (or others) come away with at least 3 picks. tOSU has the horses back there, and should be a good test before we get into the meat of the season (PSU & TTUN), who have pretty good QBs.

Fear the Turtle? Not if you're a bookie, apparently.

Off a well-earned bye week and in spite of Maryland earning a fifth win yesterday in as many tries this season, Ohio State emerges from its brief slumber as 21-point favorites ahead of the Buckeyes' showdown in Columbus with the Terrapins. The line fell almost immediately to 19.5 points shortly after opening.

Spread: Ohio State -19
