Martina Hingis : Coke Whore?

so she did a little blow. big deal. someone should fark that picture from the beginning of the thread and put some powder under her nose
It is a big deal when most of the viewing/caring public want their atheletes to be pure as the driven snow and uphold the highest ideals. people want their idols and Gods to be perfect and the viewing/caring public do not condone the use of drugs. Read cocaine or steroids or any other induced enhancer.
So in that vein it is a very big deal. If you don't believe me ask Mike Vick.

She had a very good public image, so this really makes you wonder just
how it went wrong or was her image a fabrication?
It is probably extraordinarily difficult on an world class athlete, mentally, to give up the dream and the big stage. Or as we have seen with Britney Spears. The fall can be steep and ugly.

Let's not go overboard here. Without condoning coke use in any way, there is a big difference between isolated use of the stuff and the descent-into-hell-on-turbo-rollerskates life led by Britney Spears. Hingis has not pulled any offspring into a lifestyle of depravity, and she evidently (see pics) has not devolved into the kind of flabby sloth that Spears has.

Let's also not assign cocaine use to some sort of natural evolution of retirees from professional athletics. Few of the cokehounds I've known had any athletic talent whatever, much less the level required to be a "world class athlete." Coke users don't use to reduce stress; they use because they love the high and can't seem to turn down the offer to get there.
