Mark May (Blew 5 guys at Pitt)

I'm about 6 years late but...

Can't say I'm surprised seeing a thread dedicated to making fun of this douche. I can't stand him and he goes out of his way to cut the Buckeyes down for whatever stupid reason.

Him and the Trev the SEC homer, I cannot stand. The SEC is so overrated it's not even funny.

Just sayin': I think it is over 6 years late, Trev Alberts was fired by ESPN back in 2005. I'm not sure that Mark Douchebag was a SEC homer back then; however, he has always hated Ohio State. I do believe that it got worse with him (in 2005) when they hired Lou Holtz as his partner to replace Alberts, Holtz actually likes Ohio State. Douchebag had to ratchet it up to make up for the loss of Albert (who didn't like Ohio State either) and to offset anything good about Ohio State that Holtz would say. I believe ESPN's "corporate policy" to slam the BIG 10 actually started in 2006 with the creation of the Big Ten Network though.

???

I said that Trev is an SEC homer.

I didn't say Mark May was an SEC homer. I only said he hates on tOSU only for some stupid reason.

A lot of people said how great the SEC was when we played them in our last H/H that anyone from the SEC had the guts to do a tough OOC game, not named Tennessee.

Not taking into account that we own the SEC, not taking into account we beat this so called SEC West best 70-14 the year before, he STILL made excuses for the year before, made it sound like USC had no chance against the SEC giants and the very next year we went to the best the SEC West had, in their house and beat them 50-14 the very next year. If he would have said anything positive about USC and apologized then it would have been cool. But nothing. So I don't like him because of that.

I even emailed him. Asking him to name just one team of all teams in SEC history he thinks is as good as just alone the 2003, 2004 or 2005 USC Trojans. Giving him another chance to say something.

Edit: This was in 2006 so naming the previous 3 years of USC against a whole history of a conference meant a whole lot more, I think. Still holds true to this day, IMO, but wanted to clarify.

I still have the email saved somewhere.

Ohio State has an all time record of 19-5-1 against Pitt. The last time they played was in 1996, the result didn't sit well with a lot of Pitt fans:

No. 7 Buckeyes Hand Panthers Worst Defeat in School History, 72-0

72-0. That's basically what needs to be said. Ohio State never punted. They only settled for a field goal once. They scored 10 touchdowns. The only drives that didn't end without scores were late into the 4th quarter. This was an old fashioned asskicking.

Wasn't that the game that the Bucks returned a punt for a TD with only 8 or so players on the field?

Yup.
Also, going into or coming out of halftime, Cooper told some reporter that they wouldn't throw the ball in the second half. They didn't, and still won by a bunch in that half. So, basically, the game wasn't as close as the score indicates.

That Pitt game was the game after OSU opened the season with a 70-7 win over Rice. Rice coach said he would never schedule Ohio State again. Mike Wiley touched the ball 3 times and scored each of those times. I think his shortest score was 49 yards.

I remember this too:

Ken Hatfield was upset when his team lost to Ohio State earlier this season, 70-7. Hatfield thought coach John Cooper was running up the score.
Hatfield said he “would never, ever vote (i.e. coaches poll) for Ohio State again.”

Why is Trev Alberts an SEC homer? He got fired a decade ago, before the SEC BS & he was a Big XII (big 8) homer as far as I can tell.
