Regarding the D, has there really been many instances of holding a team under 100 total yards regardless of who they are?

I did a quick look through the NCAA database, and couldn't find an instance of this happening.

It's not unheard of; but the last time it happened to Akron was in 2007, when they played Ohio State. (Also posted in the 2011 Defense Thread)

We held scUM to under a hundred in 2007.

TSUN indeed only had 91 yards total offense in the rain in 2007.

For those wondering, DBB's statement was also correct, since he was pointing out that the last time that Akron got less than 100 yards was in their 2007 game at tOSU.

I was trying to get the channel changed at the half today, but in my drunken state I had the remote in audio mode, so I got to hear him say, "I'm so impressed, against AKRON, ooohhh, such a powerhouse..."

Fuck this goddamn douchenozzle, is there anyone who DOESN'T hate him?

I was in Vancouver for the game (watched it in the G Sports Bar...only place in town with the game) and I was sitting with the three only other guys in the place at the time who were PAC [strike]10[/strike] 12 fans, and they all agreed he is a dick. It's not just we Buckeye fans who think that...

Mark May was also saying how "IT'S AKRON!" when discussing the OSU game, completely ignoring how he said Wisconsin will win the B10 based on how they played against UNLV.

Luckily, I didn't have to sit through that, my dad told me about it. I don't watch ESPN outside of games anymore and I certainly don't watch Mark May.

What WOULD impress him? 72-0?
Where did he play college football?

Since the BCS era (starting with the 1998 regular season) Pitt has played for the mighty Big East Conference, which has a losing BCS record. Three Big Least schools have won a BCS game, while Cincinnati (0-2), Connecticut (0-1), Syracuse (0-1), Virginia Tech (0-1) and - Pittsburgh (0-1) have been skunked.

Pitt's one and only venture into BCS waters was when they faced Urban Meyer and his non-BCS conference Utah Utes in the 2005 Fiesta Bowl. "What's a Ute?" the Judge said in My Cousin Vinnie. Well, they are the team that sodomized Pitt 35-7 in Pitt's only BCS appearance.

I don't know about what would impress "May-Day", but what would impress me is not hearing about "it's only Akron" from a guy who comes from a program that is as completely irrelevant as Akron.

Maybe you didn't see the connection between "72-0" and "Who did Mark May play for?" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996_Ohio_State_Buckeyes_football_team. Ohio State played Pitt on 9/21/96 (I believe that was the last time they played each other), and won 72-0. On top of that, the score was CLOSER than the game was, as Cooper announced at halftime that he would have the Buckeyes throw any more passes. They didn't, and still continued to score points (though only 20 points in the second half), including a punt return for a touchdown with only 8 players on the field (7 blockers plus 1 returner).
