Wait, I though they already selected Father Guido Sarducci?

Either from Brazil or Africa. The time is now.

I don't know if it will happen this time or not; but certainly, you are correct. The time is now. Likely depends on whether or not the powerful Italian coalition of Cardinals decides to vote as a block to keep authority with a European Catholic.

This is now open until Monday.

I also wanted to comment on some silly media coverage of the papal situation. When Benedict resigned and then had his chopper ride over to Castel Gandolfo, George Stephanopoulos was trying to point out that Benedict was moving things forward, and on two different days George said that this was the first pope with a Twitter account.

Since Benedict was elected in 2005, and Twitter started in 2006, it's not like any previous popes had a chance to tweet, so George was being a twit.

Re: When Corriere della Sera, one of Italy?s leading daily newspapers, canvassed eight Vatican analysts and asked them to nominate their top three papal contenders at the weekend, Cardinal Sean Patrick O?Malley, the archbishop of Boston. was by far the most popular choice.
He comfortably beat Odilo Pedro Scherer of Brazil and Angelo Scola of Italy, widely perceived to be two of the strongest candidates for the top job.

Vatican conclave begins: Cardinals locked up until one emerges as pope

The heavy wooden doors to the Sistine Chapel swung closed Tuesday, signaling the start of the secret election, or conclave, in which 115 Roman Catholic cardinals will pick the next pope.
Now all eyes will turn to the chimney installed on the roof of the historic chapel.
From this point on, the only clue the world will have of what is happening inside will be periodic puffs of smoke that follow each round of voting.
Black smoke, no pope. White smoke, success.

ABC News just reported seeing "black smoke".
