I remember when the WAC had good teams - BYU, Fresno State, San Diego State, even Boyzee - but how the fuck does that conference still have an auto bid with this roster?

WAC Standings
TEAM CONF OVERALL
New Mexico State 13-1 23-9
Grand Canyon 11-3 25-6
CSU Bakersfield 11-3 23-8
Seattle 7-7 14-16
Utah Valley 6-8 12-18
UMKC 4-10 12-19
UT Rio Grande Valley 4-10 8-22
Chicago State 0-14 4-28

Only New Mexico State remains from what once was a decent conference, and they practically have a guaranteed route to the Dance unless they shit the bed. Grand fucking Canyon won 25 games, but they aren't eligible for the conference tournament. So I'm rooting for CSU Bakersfield (who?) to end NMSU's 4 year NCAA run tonight.

Just because this may be relevant to followers of MAC basketball, and Ohio teams in it, in particular--did anyone see the end of the Akron/Buffalo game? Tied at 61 apiece, Buffalo had the ball with 30 seconds to go, but only 18 on the shot clock. With about 26 seconds to go, Keith Dambrot's (the Akron coach) guard fouled the Buffalo guard, which reset the shot clock. So, in other words, because Dambrot didn't tell his players not to foul, instead of (worst case), Akron getting the ball back down three (assuming Buffalo hit a 3-pointer, again, assuming worst case scenario), with 12 seconds left, Buffalo was able to run the clock all the way down. Predictably, they hit a three-pointer with less than two seconds left on the clock. Akron didn't even get a shot off in response.

Just a horrible, horrible coaching gaffe, IMO. Pretty incredible that a guy (Dambrot) who does this for a living (and is compensated very well, mind you), has less knowledge than the average fan. Disappointing.

Not only did he not tell them not to foul, I suspect he told them TO foul because they had a couple to give and it looked intentional. As you explained, it made no sense. It cost them any chance of a final possession. Akron's 3 decades of not dancing continued as a result.

Glad to see someone get a first time bid instead of NMSU waltzing in and getting pasted, again. Good job CSU Bakersfield.

Top seed Little Rock wins the Sun Belt tournament, beating UL-Monroe in the final. ULM got there by taking out Texas-Arlington in the semis - remember them?
