Man U +0.5 at FC Porto (Wed, 2:30 ET, ESPN2)

1st 15 minutes seemed like Porto was playing a man down; that is how well Man U was playing. The next half hour was a big more even with Porto getting some good sustained runs but overall Man U was still better during this time, too.

It's lookin good to me so far. I just hate that United looked like they wanted to sit back and absorb the pressure. It also looks like United is playing very narrow. The AC Milan Xmas tree formation really makes me unhappy. I hate when Fergie turns to that formation in away games.

That formation is doing an excellent job pinning Porto to the sidelines when on the Man U side and not allowing them to have good crosses. The first good cross Porto had came around 70' and they have been content to take shots from distance.

And it also leads to United giving the ball away 14 times in the middle of the pitch because they have no width and no outlet. Porto was funnelled to the side lines and the more telling thing is it took nearly 70 mins for Porto to get a corner.
