Man Purse?

Okay, so I have a dispute with a co-worker over what he calls my man-purse. Others have said this as well. I do not think my bag is a man-purse. I think it is freakin' cool.

So help me out here, is this a man-purse or not?



More info: it fits letter size stuff exactly sideways, though legal docs only vertically. This gives an idea of size. . . So it isn't briefcase/messenger sized. It's a map-bag, damn it!

(On a related note, my wife is getting a Vespa. Am I allowed to ride it?)

I'd say it depends on how you wear it. If the strap is on the side of your neck/upper-shoulder opposite where the satchel hangs, I think you're okay. If it the strap is on the shoulder on the same side as the satchel, it's a purse.

You can ride the vespa, but only if you drive AND she is sitting behind you holding on. Riding it by yourself? Bad idea. Letting her drive and you holding on to her? Even worse.

It's a messenger bag, not a man purse. It looks too big to be a purse.

I believe this is the universally accepted criteria.

As far as the Vespa, you can ride it if, and only if, you're wearing leather chaps and a biker jacket. Y'know, for street cred.

If they are saying this thing is a "European hand bag" then I would venture to say that's another way of saying purse.

A man purse as sometimes seen in Taos is usually made of leather, /deerskin/cowhide/pigskin(manly) and purse size(small).
Lots of computer bags become man purses out of necessity.
Carry alls.
Carry computer/lunch/wallet/Snap On tools. etc. :tongue2:

Scooters are very "fashionable" now. If you can live with being "fashionable" drive it!
Single speed bicycles are much cooler(and cheaper).

I don't want to answer that. It would likely not be beneficial to my cause. . . :P


BTW: I searched for "map bag" on google, which is what this bag was labeled as by the manufacturer, and most map bags are camouflage and look like they're for the military. That's pretty manly, I'd say.
