Man Hooks World Record 124-Pound Catfish

World Record Bass

Didnt want to create a new thread for fish stories...

ESPN - A new world record?

Seventy-seven years and counting. That's how long George Perry has sat atop the record books in the largemouth bass category, but he may be sharing his perch if a recently caught Japanese bass is as big as has been reported.
The story comes out of Lake Biwa in the Shiga Prefecture of Japan. The bass reportedly weighs 10.12 kilograms or a little less than 22 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 73.5 centimeters (nearly 29 inches). No girth measurements are available at this time.

Huge largemouth..I remember a few years ago, when they had a debate over the 25lber caught in california. It's always interesting to see how strange the fish look at massive weights.

A few random pics.

i've caught two crappie about that size in my life (slightly smaller). one was in arizona on a carolina rigged lizard (fishing for bass) and the other was at night on a dock in tennessee.

I've had some pretty good luck with large crappie, too. My dad caught one comparable in size. A bit smaller, but comparable. It was in a private pond right off 146 outside Zanesville. Right by Dillon Lake.

That bass looks ridiculous.

Anyone hear that urban legend about when they built bridges across the Ohio River? Some divers refused to go back in the water because they saw cats as big as Yugos.

Yep..I've heard the same thing..Only thing is that none of the record catfish (shovelhead, blue, channel) are close to the size of a car..So...

Now those mekong's...are a different story.
