Man allegedly flings jellyfish at teens at beach - Yahoo! News

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. ? A 41-year-old man was arrested on Monday at at Madeira Beach after witnesses said he repeatedly pretended to drown, then allegedly began tossing jellyfish at nearby teenagers. According to a sheriff's office report, Keith Edward Marriott caused "concern for his safety" when he repeatedly submerged himself and floated back to the top of the water. He was also "loud and disruptive."

He then started throwing the sea creatures.

Marriott was arrested and charged with disorderly intoxication and carrying a concealed weapon. According to the St. Petersburg Times, Marriott was carrying a pocketknife in his shorts.

Jail records indicate that Marriott was being held on $250 bond. A message left after-hours at the public defender's office was not immediately returned late Tuesday night.

LMAO, Jellyfish??? That'd be awesome to see.
Depending on the type, if he was grabbing them and throwing them, they'd be stinging the shit out of his hands. Those bastards hurt!!

I don't know who here dives, but once you get hit by one of those floating pain inducing mother*uckers - or brush against some fire coral - you can only ignore it if you are serioulsy mentally ill or have a much stronger pain threshold than me!!

Agree. Those things are the second worst pain I have ever experienced after my gall bladder attack.

I was scuba diving in the Red Sea (without wetsuit) and found the surface was covered by hundreds of jellyfish about 4 inches in diameter. I did a shore entry and stayed down way too long (25 bar on the gauge).

I tried to swim beneath them as close to the shore as I could before I surfaced, but fifty yards out, they were still covering the surface and I was at 0 bars. Nothing quite like sucking for air when there ain't none there and the surface is wall-to-wall with jellyfish, without more than six inches between them.

I prepared for the worst and surfaced, using my last breath to inflate my BCD further.

I don't know what the heck kind of jellyfish they were, but they didn't sting. I swam right through them to the coast. Strangest think I ever saw. Even the little bluebottles sting for hours but these guys - nothing.

Any chance it was that kind of jellyfish?

Never been stung myself, but I've heard from close friends/family to aviod Jellyfish at all costs because they hurt, and they hurt bad.

What he should have done is get a friend and a water balloon launcher, then put the jellyfish in there and send that thing flying with some speed. Especially into large crowds, would have been very entertaining.
