The Malware problem isn't b/c of the virus but I believe a blocking issue on my end b/c of my anti-virus.

It usually gives you 3 options: Safe Mode with Command Line, Safe Mode, and Safe Mode with Networking. Choose the last and it should work.

That's the one I chose. I have wireless internet through Verizon and it would not let me "connect."
