Maisel gives LSU credit

These articles are caused by the polls

If you didn't have preseason polls, you wouldn't have sportswriters bending over backwards to justify their mistakes in ranking a team too high in the polls. The BCS should prohibit any of the polls it uses in its rankings from being taken until the end of September. That way, the rankings would at least reflect this year's performance instead of expectations based on last year's performance or the stature of a program.

To me it doesn't really matter how lucky or good LSU is or is not.

Simply stated ...THE KICKER BLEW THE GAME.

A win is a win is a win no matter how ugly, lucky, controversial or good.

In January all I know is that LSU will be playing for some big dollars and hopefully we will be playing opposite them and maybe their "luck" will run out.

GO BUCKS!

true...the osu kicker blew it. true a win is a win is a win. but that doesnt mean ivan the terrible should be giving credit to LSU when OSU did the same thing (not even as lucky) the last 2 years and all they got was shit for it.

They're media darlings because they thought they got screwed out of playing for the unified title last year, and because they beat the other media darlings, Oklahoma, who was clearly the greatest team in the last 25 years going in (according to the same media). It was the same with Nebraska in 1997, etc.

Any time you rely on the opposing kicker to miss 3 Xtra points, you're lucky. Played like a Champion? Not so much.

The so called "luckeyes" had one escape - UC 2002. Otherwise, OSU made plays when they had to. Purdue comes to mind. Michigan comes to mind as well. Time will tell if LSU can make plays when they have to. But, I'm not worried that some writer somewhere thinks they played like champions. They didn't, and anyone who watched the game unfold knows better. They played like a team without an identity. They played like a team without a solid option at QB, no go to receiver and no signifigant run threat. All this againt a Pac 10 D. LSU's D looked pretty solid, I'll say that. But, LSU's offensive troubles... mark this down.. that was no anomoly. They will not dominate. This surprised me little. I predict a similar result for Michigan once they get a real team on the slate - if it happens before the Wolverines move beyond their ability and gain that ... what... zone of confidence.. or whatever. I mean, Chad Henne, David Underwood... 2 unproven recievers and one with the hands of Roberto Duran? That doesn't spell championship to me. On the other hand, neither did the Griese led Wolves.. somewhere along the way that 97 team began to believe. It could happen again.

the media kept talking about how great the backup qb was, but he was just as terrible as the starter IMO
I actually heard one guy say, that he didn't know if their backup QB (JaMarcus Russell) was right or left handed, until OT. He was so terrible, that he couldn't throw with either hand.
