Madden to Join NBC in 2006

I like John Madden. He is a nostalgic figure to me. Of course I dont watch football games for the commentators and try not to get caught up in dissecting what they say. But Madden has been the recognizable analyst since I started watching football, so inevitably I will miss him when he does retire. I can say the only commentator that has ever made me want to change the channel was Gumbel.

People may hate on Paul Maguire, but I like him. He doesn't take himself seriously, and none of you should either. I still remember when he started chowing down on some turkey in the booth on a Thanksgiving Day game. That was funny. He gives much needed comic relief. And, Nessler - Griese - Maguire - Arute is the best team ABC has for college football.

Ooh ooh ooh, can we get Olbermann to do the game so we can hear stupid political jokes all night? Why not bring Rush back? :shake:

Jaws is the one guy who does a great job on the evening broadcasts...the rest, well, not so much. NBC doesn't have anyone who can do shit, so one replacement is as good as another, though listening to the Gumbel/Collinsworth combination on NFL Network is right up there with being dropped into the middle of "Survivor: Ebola Clinic"

I agree. Jaws breaks things down well and isn't annoying while doing it. As for Keith and Rush...no and no.
