I want Alex McKenzie because he was named for one of the greatest golf course designers ever, Alister McKenzie. OK, so it's a bit of a reach, but it's Christmas Eve and I'm giving myself a present. I'll root for this kid even if he's not a Buckeye, but even harder if he becomes one.

Merry Christmas to all!

Prep football: Immokalee's Mackensie Alexander decommits from Tennessee

By ADAM FISHER
Posted March 12, 2012

NAPLES ? It looks like Immokalee defensive back Mackensie Alexander won't end up at Tennessee after all.

The Indians junior committed to Tennessee in early January after he had a strong showing at the U.S. Army National Combine in San Antonio. Thanks to a staff change at the university, Alexander has decommited from the Volunteers and opened up his recruitment again.

Alexander gave a verbal commitment after working with Tennessee defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator Terry Joseph. Last week Joseph left the Vols to join the staff at Nebraska.

?I got real comfortable with Coach Joseph, and when he left for Nebraska it changed everything,? Alexander said. ?The foundation is not there. I don't want to go in with someone who doesn't know me.?

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback was an all-state first team selection this past season and drew the attention of top recruiters with strong showing at camps like the National Combine. Recruiting website Rivals has Alexander ranked as the 56th-best player in the Class of 2013 regardless of position.

Alexander has scholarship offers from at least 17 programs that play in Bowl Championship Series conferences. He lists his top choices as Florida, Florida State, Miami, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

?I'm looking at everybody again,? Alexander said. ?I'm going over all my options.?

On Saturday, Alexander will be in Gainesville to visit the University of Florida and watch spring practice. On March 23, he will visit Florida State. He plans to be at Ohio State in April for the Buckeyes' spring game.

The second play on that film had me sold...

From a defensive standpoint, that has to be one of the most impressive films I have ever seen. I can't believe he is only a junior. I find it hard to believe there is a more aggressive corner in the nation.

Not sure the Bucks got a shot, but sure would make an immediate impact.
