  • Ninth-seed Ohio dominates top-seed Kent State in the quarterfinals, 81-64. Good news for second-seed Akron, who had no answer for the Golden Flashes during the season. The Zips got past Eastern Michigan 97-89 in double OT.

I watched a good part of that Akron EMU game, it was a wild one

Medlock for EMU threw up 42 points

Hitchens for Akron and Bowdry for EMU got ejected and EMUs coach got tossed too

I have a feeling it's going to be Miami and Akron for the championship.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time Miami had a so-so season and made a run. Ohio looked awfully good beating KSU, too.

As much as I love Ohio, this team may just be too young this season to complete the run. However, we are stacked for the next few years with the talent Groce has been able to bring in.

That being said, I hope they destroy the fucking Redskins!!!

They said we were too young in 2005 too. (That was the Williams & Fears team when they were frosh that won the MAC)

They had a rough spot early as the team lacked discipline (countless suspensions and stuff, including Basset being benched for a few games) But it seems to have brought this team together and they are firing on all pistons.

I am heading down to the Q tonight to watch them beat up on some foreskins!!!

Ninth-seed Ohio takes on two-seed Akron for the NCAA bid tonight.

Their two meetings this year were both close, with the Zips winning by 3 and 5 points. The Bobcats lost a lot of close games during the season.

McNees saves Akron's ass again with a late bomb to force OT, just like he did two days ago versus EMU. The MAC isn't the toughest conference in the world, but their tournament seems to always produce drama.

Ninth seed Ohio is going dancing with 14 losses, but they went through the top two teams in their conference to do it.

    Congrats, Cats!

Yup, props to Coach Groce on an incredible feat, leading his team to a conference tourney title against the odds. I'm intrigued by the possibility that OU will be seeded low enough to be matched up against OSU ... wouldn't be the first time Matta's faced a former assistant from the same region in the opening weekend :)
