“Coach O has set a new standard at LSU,” said LSU athletic director Scott Woodward said in a statement. “He has proven that he is not only a championship coach, but also a leader of a program committed to doing things the right way. He has represented our institution and our state with great pride, on and off the field of play. He is well-deserving of this new contract, which should make clear our commitment to Coach O and the direction of our football program.”

Pelini (back) to LSU as DC being reported as a done deal.

All signs point to Bo Pelini being next LSU defensive coordinator

Bo Pelini (remember him?) is set to be the next LSU defensive coordinator, according to multiple reports on Monday, though FootballScoop was the first to report on the possibility a full week ago.
.
.
.
According to Sports Illustrated‘s Ross Dellenger, Pelini will make around $2 million a year, which represents a massive raise from his salary as an FCS head coach but a major savings for LSU, who paid Aranda a best-in-the-nation salary of $2.5 million.

$2?...TWO...Million for Bo Pelini. Assistant salaries have entered the room of absurd.*

*Obviously not relative to the overall market/business, that’s the game the big guns are playing. Just can’t believe my eyes seeing that as a DC salary, especially Bo - who I think is good, not great.

each of Bo’s last 3 defenses (as DC) finished top 3 in total defense.
