a week from tomorrow the season finally gets started (first series is home against Air Force).

we're ranked anywhere from 8-14 in the polls.

and we broke a school record with 9180 season tickets sold this year.
which means that before a single game is even played (or individual tickets go on sale), we have already sold more tickets this year than any other school has ever sold for an entire season.

toss in individual game tickets, and those sold as part of the 15 game packages, and we should once again hit the 400k mark for the season.

if by chance we host a few postseason games, we have a shot at catching our own record for most tickets ever sold in a season.

Dying to get down to The Box for a game sometime.

The Box is amazing.

I always thought the old Box was a really nice ballpark.
But when the new one opened, I realized the old Box was kind of a dump.

I love that place.
If you can make it to a night game, that's the way to go.

I know someone who coached as a visiting opponent in the Old Box.

Said it was absolutely without a doubt his favorite trip as a college coach ever.

I love our baseball fans.
a truly respectful and hospitable group.

we're loud and boisterous.
but we are also know to give opponents standing o's and loud cheers when they do something great.

several years ago in the old box, a small school (can't remember who) came in to play for Regionals.
LSU beat them twice, but both times were great games, and that other school was a scrappy hard playing bunch.
after the 2nd game ended (that send us to Super Regionals), the crowd chanted for the opponents until they came back on the field, where the crowd cave them a hearty salute of appreciation for a well played series.

that's something that is rare in sports, and I'm proud that The Box is one of those special type places.

Opening Day is here!

leaving in a couple hours to head toward Baton Rouge.
take in a little tailgating before the game.

should be close to 11k in actual attendance tonight.
possibly as many as 12k+ tickets sold.

(yes, LSU baseball announces both paid and actual attendance for every game)

Didn't they just start construction on some more luxury boxes too?

i think those new boxes are supposed to be ready for the opener tonight.

yep, new boxes are complete and were being used last night.
they look great. it's impossible to tell where the "old" boxes stop and new ones start.

got an easy win last night over Air Force 10-2.

they pretty much handed us the game in 1st inning.
HPB, HPB, BB, HPB, to the 1st 4 batters, followed by a 3 run double.

game was never in doubt from that moment on.

paid attendance: 11,376
Actual attendance: 8,006 (Mardi Gras probably kept this number lower than expected)

3 weekends from now.
March 9-12 (Fri-Mon)

if looking to make the trip down here, I can point you to where to get decent tickets for any of those 4 games.

also, there is free admission to the 2 Michigan vs. Notre Dame games that weekend (Sat @ 1pm ; Sun @ 10am)

we won a bloodbath vs Alcorn St. last night 19-0

game 3 is this afternoon vs Air Force again.

still haven't got a great read on this team.
both games were out of hand early, and we are making teams pay for their mistakes.

haven't faced any decent pitching yet though.
our guys have been hit by pitches 11 times through the 1st 2 games.
