Other schools do Hells Bells too. Maybe Ohio State should stop doing that too? If you took away all the crowd stuff that other schools do all you'd hear at the game is Hang on Sloopy and a bunch of idiots booing Jim Bollman for running on second down.

For better or worse, that Seven Nation Army tune gets the crowd into the game in a positive way. If it makes you think if Penn State, that sounds like a personal problem.

I disagree for the fact that college football is about tradition. I dont know who started what but when every school starts copying your "thing" it makes it watered down and, well, lame. Jump around is Wisconsin's thing. I loved the Hells Bells but dont know where it actually started.

You cant compare Hang On Sloopy either because its a band thing. The songs we are hearing are over the PA system which shouldnt count the same as your band playing.

Have you seen some of the ham-fisted shit they've tried doing at the stadium the last couple years? The cartoons on the scoreboard? The contrived cheers where they have to give instructions over the PA? They're better off copying stuff than doing that kind of stuff.

No, been in AZ and havent gotten to make it to a game in about 6 years now. I would think someone at these schools should be learning how to do some cool design things. Hell use a song to get you pumped but pick one that not every other school is using and put your stamp on it, i.e. Wisky.

I just want college to stay college and leave the commercialization and watering down behind. Alas, I know I'm in for more disappointment.

I think most people overestimate the exclusivity of their own school's traditions.

I also think that if Penn State were indeed the first college football team to start playing Seven Nation Army that its a damn good thing that everybody started copying them. Why let those assholes own it? Put it in the public domain and cheapen the hell out of it for them.

Well, I'm sorry you haven't been to The 'Shoe lately. I can assure you that the cartoon they played throughout the Toledo game was an embarrassment. Something along the lines of Brutus having to stop a Rocketter from blasting a sousaphone into space so it could be brought back in time to dot the I.

It was as bad as the "podcasts can be unpredictable" IU commercial that they run on BTN.

Also, Seven Nation Army is far from being the most offensive music they're playing at the games now. I can't even count how many auto-tune slow jams they played throughout the afternoon a couple weeks ago. At least Seven Nation Army is a somewhat aggressive and enthusiastic tune.

The worst thing EVER in the stadium was the Godforsaken "It's another Ohio State...<awkward pause>....FIRST DOWN". GOD that was annoying, and thankfully they tanked it after a year.
