LSU 20, Georgia 13 (Final)

Per PTI, the SEC said that there "was no video evidence" to support the celebration penalty on Green.

shocked as shit that they admitted it.

<sarcasm>SEC officials are infallible. they don't make mistakes, you're eyes just fooled you into thinking they made a mistake.
hugging a teammates (like AJ Green did) is excessive
so is pointing at the sky (like Scott did) is excessive</sarcasm>

seriously though. i've seen some REALLY shitty calls by SEC refs. yet i've never heard them actually come out and say "oops, we fucked up"
normally they trot out the whole "we saw nothing wrong with the calls that were made in the game"

just sucks that it had to end like that.
i'm already tired of hearing the excuses.

UGA gave up a big return, that cost them a whole lot more than the penalty did.
Then they gave up a long run to Scott (his 1st good run of the season).

when the zebras gave them the same gift they gave us, they didn't get a good return, then completed a pass to our linebacker.

SEC supervisor: Penalty on UGA's Green shouldn't have been called - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com

Couple quotes

Rogers Redding, the SEC supervisor of officials, said Monday that after reviewing video of the play, "I've concluded that it was one that we probably should have let go."

"We tell our guys not to go looking for this stuff but if it's right in your face, you have to call it," Redding said. "He [the SEC official] is beating himself up pretty bad over this one."

Redding said his video review of the other penalties showed they were both justified, though Scott said he was merely pointing at the sky to give credit "to the Lord" -- not gesturing toward the crowd.
Even Florida coach Urban Meyer, whose top-ranked team faces LSU on Saturday night, took issue with the flag on Green.
"That's just awful," Meyer told reporters in Gainesville, Fla. "I can't stand that when then happens. I just think that's wrong."

Scott said he was merely pointing at the sky

if that was penalty, then what the hell was all that jumping around the entire UGA team did when that stopped us on 4th down?

oh, and if pointing at god is illegal, Timmy should be the most penalized player in the history of organized football.

both calls were complete bullshit, and the SEC office knows it.

after all, this is the same group of people who agreed that this was perfectly legal:

I've stayed away from this thread because I didn't want anything I posted to sound like sour grapes.

I'm going to quote the fine folks at the Georgia Sports blog because I think they said it best.

If you want to blame the refs or (defensive coordinator) Willie Martinez, fine. Just remember that Rennie Curran, our best tackler, had Charles Scott at the line of scrimmage and couldn't close the deal. He was in position to make the stop and didn't. Don't blame Willie. Blame Rennie, who absolutely played his ass off, set a career high with 16 tackles, and is our best defensive player. Sometimes, the other guy makes a play.

Agree 100%. All you can do is shake their hands, look them in the eye, and play your ass off the rest of the season to try and get another shot at them in Atlanta.
