LSU 15, Alabama 24 (final)

just so we're clear....a stupid decision by idiot Miles really cost LSU. too bad those retarded decisions didn't cost them in 07.

if you're referring to the decision to go for 2, I disagree.
I was ok with the attempt for 2 to make it a 7pt lead.
Plus, I don't think that had very much to do with the outcome.

Either way, we're down by a minimum of 7, and forced to pass behind a mediocre line with a less than stellar QB.

Now on to my take on the game.
While i think the INT was possibly the worst call I've seen all year (maybe ever), I'm not going to blame this loss on that one play. Yeah, it would have been a completely different game had it been called right.
We would have been down 6 on about our 35yd line with 5 minutes to geaux. Instead of down 9 with a long field in front of us. But there is no way to say that we definitely would have scored.

The play that cost us was the TD to Julio Jones. Peterson had shut him down all game long. As soon as he went down, Bama did the right thing by attacking his replacement (Brandon Taylor) who is not a cornerback.
Taylor gave him too much of a cushion, and then took a bad route when he came up for the hit.
I truly feel that if Peterson stayss healthy the entire 2nd half, we win that game.

Losing Jefferson was big, but Lee still managed to lead us on a TD drive, just couldn't make the big play when we needed it.

Charles Scott was a pretty big loss as well, since he looked to be wearing down the Bama D.
Unfortunately, he is done for the season (broken collarbone), and since he's a senior, that big run was his last as a Tiger (slight possibility he'll be back for a Bowl game).

My biggest complaint about coaching is that we totally abandoned the run when Scott went down.
A total of 3 rushing attempts after that play. Stevan Ridley makes a great run for a TD, and gets rewarded by having only 1 touch the rest of the way.

Hurts to lose like this, but if we finish with only 2 losses, both against teams in top 3, that's nothing to be ashamed about.

To make the big play LSU needed better pass protection and run blocking.
Did not watch the whole game but in crunch time it seemed like Bama just destroyed the pocket with a power rush up the middle.
Bama #57 was a beast, but the LSU interior could not protect their QB.
Not to go OT, but after watching Heyward, Denlinger and Simon blow up the PSU guards yesterday, it made me appreciate the job Boren and Browning have done this year. Seems like the times a tOSU pocket has blown up from the interior have been rare.
Much of the offensive line improvement in 2009 has been anchored by the 3 core OL next to the ball.

that has been a problem all year.

only really cost us twice.
Florida didn't respect the pass at all, so they stacked the box, and brought the house.

Yesterday, we looked to be making strides.
But once we had a backfield full of second stringers, and needing 2 scores, they were able to go nickel, and exploit mismatches on the line.
Especially consider Lee is slighty less mobile than a cinder block, and was no no threat to beat the blitz with his legs.

What's up with your OL, nutriaitch? Ciron Black was considered a top 15 pick going into the year.

apparently Herman Johnson should have been getting the pub the last couple years instead of Black.

Now that Big Herm is gone, Ciron has taken a step or two backwards.

Last year, Scott was a beast and looked like a sure 1st round pick after this season.
Jarrett Lee usually had all day to sit back a decide exactly whicch defender he wanted to hit in stride.

This year, not so much.
Even when they pass protect, our QBs have been really gun shy and seemingly scared to throw into coverage.
