LoZ: Twilight Princess

We finished the last couple sidequests/games over the weekend. I am far from ecstatic with the rewards given for the completion of said sidequests. :pissed:

Spent the weekend playing the Wii ... literally the entire weekend. I like how the Message Board produces a log of your playtime and how much time you spent in each channel, as if I need minute-by-minute reports of how I wasted the entire weekend and accomplished nothing whatsoever. By my count, since getting the Wii home Friday evening and getting it hooked up and live at around 6:00PM, we spent about 25 hours playing with it ... or about 60-70% of the entire time we were awake. Of that, I've only logged 5 hours on Zelda. The Wii Sports were surprisingly fun, and we picked up Rayman Raving Rabbids as well, which is also very good (but requires a bit more dexterity than our six year old has to enjoy many of mini-games).

Overall, Twilight Princess has been about what I expected: Not quite as good as Ocarina, but still as enjoyable as any other Zelda title. However, I'm only now getting through the first major dungeon, the Forest Temple, so part of my disappointment in the first two hours or so of play was that the story started a little slowly. Ocarina had you exploring the entire world very quickly. I admit that the storyline in TP is suddenly getting very good, and I can't wait to spend another few hours on it tonight.

I think I'm going to have to play more Zelda this week anyhow, my elbows and back can't bare anymore Wii Sports now after 20 hours of flailing wildly at the TV (which must appear quite silly to my 80 year old neighbors across the street as our family plays the Wii in front of our big, picture window in our living room).

Dryden, how goes the Zelda game? I'm interested in how far you have got and if your impressions have changed any.

Personally, I'm working on 100% completion of the game. It's driving me nuts right now as I've done everything there is to do except capture all 60 Poe spirits. I am missing one and have no clue where to look for it. I've spent several hours exploring every nook and cranny in the game and still can't find that last one.....grrrrrrrrr.

I hope you are doing it just for the sake of doing it. :smash:

Yes. I have been able to record 100% completions on both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, and would like to be able to do it with Twilight Princess.

I tried to do it with Windwaker, but that Nintendo Gallery is just too tedious to complete.

I am prepared to say that it is better than Ocarina. It's epic. The art direction is astounding and proves what the Gamecube was capable of, and proves also why Nintendo still makes the best, more engrossing games after 20 years. I would strongly advise ordering Nintendo's component cables from their store and replacing the Wii's bundled composite too. Twilight Princess in 480p (upscaled to 1080i on my 46" set at home) is a beauty. The Wii won't pressure the 360 or PS3 in the graphics department, but I think it's evident that it is at least more powerful than the original XBox and PS2.

I'm still playing a lot of Wii Sports, have picked up Madden, and also downloaded a few VC titles, so I'm not playing Zelda non-stop, but I am almost done with the Goron Mines. I restarted after finishing the Forest Temple because I'd realized I'd left some Heart Container Pieces on my way, and for where I was I figured it'd be easier to restart and do it right rather than backtrack and figure what I'd forgotten and where. Plus it gave me the chance to figure out the story better, because it was a little overwhelming at first trying to follow everything and get comfortable with the control schemes on the Wii in one sitting.

Have you checked online to get any help locating it?

Yes. The problem is there are 60 poes to catch and I didn't start paying attention to which ones I was catching until I hit about 35. Hence, when I look at the list, I can't figure out which one I am missing.

Just beat the game, I hadn't played sine last Saturday.

It is pretty fulfilling once you beat it.

However, when "The End" was on the screen it kind of sat there for like 2 minutes, then gave me no option to save and returned to the Load screen. So basically it's only saved up to the point of fighting Ganondorf. It took like 40 minutes to beat him haha.
