COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State baseball team fell to No. 10 Louisville, 6-3, Tuesday evening at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the loss, the Buckeyes drop to 33-19 on the season while the Cardinals move to 43-10.
The Cardinals took the early lead with three runs off Ohio State starter Tyler Giannonatti. Adam Engel walked to lead off the inning, Nick Ratajczak followed with a fielder’s choice but Engel moved to second on an error by Kirby Pellant and, after a groundout by Ty Young, Coco Johnson lofted a three-run home run down the left-field line to give the Cardinals the 3-0 lead.
Louisville added another run in the top of the second when Shane Crain led off the inning with a walk, moved to third on a single through the right side by Sutton Whiting and scored on a wild pitch to push the advantage to 4-0.
Greg Greve came on for the third and tossed two scoreless frames but ran into trouble in the top of the fifth. After retiring the first two batters of the inning, Greve hit Young and Johnson followed with a two-run home run to left-center to extend the lead to 6-0.
