Louisville, Kentucky please tell me about the area

I have recently applied for some jobs at a large local company which has offices all around the country. One of the jobs is in Louisville, Kentucky. I have never even been to that state before but have done some preliminary investigating on the internet about the town and the surrounding area. I would appreciate any serious advice or information, positive or negative, on the area.
