Los Angeles Lakers (17x NBA Champions)

61 is 61 no matter how you slice it, but it certainly helps they were playing the "no defense, New York Knicks". That and the ridiculous amount of possesions when facing a team that shoots 5 seconds into the 24 every possesion.

Well, for the record, 61 is the most ever put up by an opposing team in Madison Square Garden. Beating Jordans 60 by 1 point. In fact, only 4 times has a player gotten over 50 there, and two times that was Jordon. So, defense or not, it's a tough place to play and score.

But Kobe can score, no doubt about it. Bynums' loss equalizes the West in a major way though. Without Bynum, a healthy San Antonio is right there, IMO.
We'll see, we are still a lot healthier than last year, Ariza has gotten better, Gasol is playing different and it's a contact year for Odom, so I still think the Lakers got the West, New Orleans, and San Antonio can beat the Lakers on any given night, but I don't think they could do it in a 7 game series.

Well, the Knicks have never played at this tempo before. If there was a window for 61 to be broken, you'd have to guess this was it. 60 in a half-court game is a lot different than 61 in a Nascar Race. But I'm really not trying to downplay 61. I don't think anyone else in the league is capable of going that high....maybe Danny Granger on a ridiculous night, against a team like the Knicks/Warriors, because the Pacers play up and down and he's their go-to-guy.

Even with another year of aging, I think the Spurs are an improved team this year. Tony Parker is playing lights out, and Tim Duncan is rock solid as usual. Manu is finally rounding into form, and they're a little deepr than last year with guys like Bonner and Mason, whom have turned into legit NBA players out of nowhere it seems.

A healthy Gasol and Bynum dominates Bonner/Oberto and Duncan. Gasol and Odom doesn't pack the same punch.

Yeah, fucking work kept me from being able to waste time

vBet got lost in the shuffle for me... I lost a small streak on my streak for the ca$h tonight.. I picked Boston to win... Here's why.. I pick Boston and they win, my streak grows.. I pick Boston and they lose, that means Kobe is still BADASS and I will start a new streak tomorrow.

NBA.com Lakers snap another Boston streak, win 110-109

By JIMMY GOLEN, AP Sports Writer

BOSTON(AP) Lamar Odom made a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left in overtime to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 110-109 victory over Boston on Thursday night and snap the Celtics' 12-game winning streak.
Kobe Bryant scored 26 points with 10 rebounds and Paul Gasol had 24 and 14 for the Lakers, who also snapped Boston's 19-game winning streak on Christmas Day and sent the Celtics into a 2-7 skid that is the worst stretch of the New Big Three era.
Paul Pierce scored 21, and newly minted All-Star Ray Allen had 22, but he missed a desperation, off-balance shot at the buzzer while Boston fans clamored for a foul call. Rajon Rondo scored 16 with 12 assists, and Kevin Garnett scored 16 before fouling out with 4:22 left in the fourth quarter.
It was a physical meeting that featured a pair of double-technicals and enough shoving to pass for a playoff game, but both teams were tired when it ended.
Bryant, who scored 61 and 36 in his previous two games, hit three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, the last with 1:30 left in regulation and Pierce in his face to make it 101-100 - the Lakers' first lead of the half. But after Pierce made one of two free throws with 30 seconds left, Bryant tried to shoot over Pierce again and banged it off the rim.
