Looks like defense really does win championships

If you would have told me at the beginning of the season, playing our schedule, the Dawgs would have a better D than Southern Cal - I'd have danced in the streets.

Now all I want to do is run in front of a bus.

Auburn just won the national title, with a 14-0 record, while finishing #53 in scoring defense, allowing 24.07 ppg. I wonder how many other teams have won the national title while finishing lower in scoring defense and/or giving up more points per game. My guess is "not many". Hell, they gave up 31+ points four times--including 43 to Arkansas at home--and none of those four games were overtime games.

I think the real question is what's their td to fg ratio? And how did it compare to their opponents?
