Looking for 20-26" LCD TV

Hey guys, I know there are a couple people around here that are a little more knowledgeable about such things than I am, and I also just want a couple of opinions. I am looking to upgrade from my 19" Sanyo SD TV (that I won my junior year of HS at after-prom lol) to something a little nicer with a slightly larger screen. The speakers are also getting funky (certain frequencies aren't giving me good response, specifically the vocal range and certain areas of the bass), so I figure its as good an excuse as any to upgrade. Obviously this is just for personal bedroom/dorm/apartment use with just a max size of 26". I would really like it to have a VGA port, although 2 HDMI ports would also work to hook up my laptop (1 for my 360, another for my computer via DVI-HDMI). The budget goal is $250 or less, although $300 and under may be workable.

My biggest question is with the 1080p Insignia. Is it really worth the extra $$ for a 22" panel? I was looking at it in the store next to a 720p and while I did notice a difference, I know that things are different in the living room than the showroom. I don't care about 1080 vs. 720 in this size category, but if any good 720s are going to run around that same price, I might as well get more pixels the way I look at it. So, fellow Buckeyes; tips, comments, trolls, and scUM insults?

Ordering a tv from Amazon would be a bad idea as I have tried it twice and both times UPS has damaged it. Don't do it. Buy local.
Bigger sets have become more popular so the price difference between a 22 and a 26 is generally not great. Go bigger. Bigger sets generally get more technology so that's a win long term. (better picture)
I'm impressed with what Samsung offers in less expensive TVs. Though many love Vizio.
Many people, including so called "experts" can't see a difference between a 720 and a 1080 screen. Use your own eyes to decide.
