Its a blatant back handed compliment. The funny thing is, the Big XII North truly does suck and Nebraska still can't win it.

I realize I'm a newbie on this list and I'm very mindful of the high standards that prevail here. Admittedly, I am completely ignorant of the history behind the reaction to this thread. But I have to kind of side with Yertle.

As buckeyes, have we become SO vain to actually care so much WHY we win? Are we afraid to admit that sometimes you get one in the W column not because of merit but out of sheer luck, that we would we cede that success back to the opponent? I didn't see anybody jumping out of their seat to hand the ball over to Purdue's offense last night before TB's second interception got reversed after a review. I know I wasn't feeling any outrage. In fact, I was holding my breath and mentally willing TB to hike the ball before the ref gets a page from upstairs.

My point here is that I, for one, don't care where the W comes from and who we got it from so long as we played by the agreed-upon rules. I don't care if we win by 1 point in the last second, or if we win by a 5 touchdown margin. Of course it has a very different effect on my nerves, but history doesn't capture that dimension.

I'm not bowing down to OH HSKR FAN because I think he/she's got it wrong and clearly there are other serious things he/she should rather focus on. But I do want to suggest that we maintain our distance, stay clean of the dust that so many of these other lists kick up, and be grateful to know that we have a mind-blowingly talented team, a legend of a coach, and an outstanding tradition.

Backhanded compliments aside, it really hasn't been the style around here to start counting on NC games midseason... there is already a thread about the possibility, but the "let's book our tickets now!" talk tends to be a little arrogant and looks stupid later if we drop a game - and statistically, not to do so is always a HUGE deal.

Yes, and the whole thing sounded pretty snide to me. Just to be clear, I was just adding to what scooter said, not disagreeing.
