Local homeless man with awesome voice

Guy I know that just graduated with broadcast jouralism degree. Said his mom calls him up the other day and is talking about this story, he is like yeah I've seen it. She continues on how great it is blah blah blah. He goes you know what else is great? I have a degree in what this guy just got a job in and I can't find a job. Guess I should be homeless on the side of the road instead of wasting all this time sending out resumes.

I'd bet your bud doesn't have half the voice this guy does...

Can people listeining to radio commercials tell? Didn't think so. News flash: Life ain't fair.

Never said it was. But maybe we shouldn't glorify a drunk, drug addict who beat his ex wife, hasn't paid child support and was arrested just a few weeks before he was "discovered" on the side of the road.

The media has already started tearing him down after a week or so of him being in the limelight.

And where does a homeless man get money for rehab?

http://www.dispatch.com/live/conten...lywood-eventful-for-ted-williams.html?sid=101

Ted Williams, the Columbus man who gained instant fame with his golden radio voice, has decided to enter rehab.

Williams decided to seek treatment for his alcohol and drug addiction at a rehabilitation facility after he and his family appeared on the Dr. Phil Show this week. The conversation between Dr. Phil and Williams will air Thursday, along with a segment in which Williams' family expreses concern about Williams' inability to handle the sudden fame.

Williams canceled all public appearances today, a day after he was detained by Los Angeles police because of a fight with his daughter.

He also isn't an addict, with nine kids he hasn't been paying child support for.

Undoubtedly, you are not a bitter, envious loser who is filled with jealousy regarding Mr. Williams's good fortune.

Consequently, you should probably examine more closely your comments regarding this human-interest story, and adjust them in the future so that others won't get the wrong idea about you.

1.) I am rooting for this guy..
2.) I think it's a very smart move to get into rehab.. FEAR (face everything and recover or fuck everything and relapse) good for him.
3.) Sucks for your friend, many of my friends who just graduated are in the same situation (minus the homeless guy with golden pipes)

Now, to answer your question..

I'm sure he has money for rehab now.

The guy is an addict.

I'm assuming the reason he was homeless is b/c he burnt too many bridges in his past. I'm sure if you interview people who he worked with him the past, which I'm sure will come out in the near future, they will paint a picture of this gentleman that is not all that pleasant.

I mean that fat cow Oprah said she wanted him to be the voice of her own network after only two days without even meeting him.

Do we all want the guy to succeed, sure, but do any of us think he will, I'm not so sure.

How many chances was this guy given before he became a homeless, deadbeat dad?

All of his money should go to his wife to support those kids of his.

This will be a tragic tale which will not have a good ending.

I mean, OK, I can see everyone's point here actually, but...did anyone really think this was going to be a guy without an airport terminal full of baggage? He has a serious disorder (addiction) that both stems from the bad choices he made in the past and also triggers him to keep making bad choices. He didn't end up homeless with that cardboard sign by accident...and it will be a huge culture shock for him to start living a "normal" life, full of responsibility (responsibility he should have been taking a long time ago), if he gets back on his feet. The one way he can make as many things right as he can for himself and more importantly his kids is to succeed, so we should all be hopeful of that...unfortunately the one thing that almost every addict requires is a true support system, full of people capable of both compassion and tough love. Does he have that? Will he make it? Hard to say.

'Golden Voice' Ted Williams Bails on Rehab | TMZ.com

Ted Williams -- the homeless man with the "Golden Voice" -- has left rehab against medical advice, less than two weeks after checking in for drug and alcohol dependency ... TMZ has learned.

Our sources say Ted -- who decided to go to rehab earlier this month after a taping of the Dr. Phil show -- left the Origins Recovery Center in South Texas moments ago and is on his way to the airport.

Ted's girlfriend is currently in rehab at the Safe Harbor facility in Costa Mesa, California.

Story developing...

We've seen enough drugged out friends and family to know when a person is just past the point of saving. Sadly,Ted is far down that road.
But we don't need to pile on Ted, here. It is what it is.

I don't see how pointing out the parts of the man's life that aren't so heart warming makes someone a "bitter, envious loser". We have a tendency to make heroes of the wrong people, and history suggests the people who built this man up will tear him down the first time he slips up.

I hope Williams takes full advantage of his opportunity to make amends for his past. Let's see if he does it before we sing his praises.
