Leo's Ristorante - in Niles

iambrutus

Screw Blue
  • We went to Leo's last night for dinner with my in laws. While we were there my daughter needed her diaper changed, so my wife took her to the ladies room - no changing tables, and according to my wife not enough room on the counter to lay her down, so my wife found our server and she said to just go upstairs in a corner where nobody was. While she was walking up there, one of the waiters stopped my wife - got very close to her face and said she couldn't change her up there and that it was completely unsanitary and disgusting. When he said this, my wife then said - fine, we will leave - at this time a waitress walked by and she told my wife to go ahead and told the waiter that it was OK.

At the end of the meal, i asked to speak to the manager because i wanted to let him know that it was ridiculous that they have highchairs for the kids but no changing tables in the restrooms - then my wife told him how rude that waiter was, and how inappropriate it was for him to get that close to her - the manager then laughed at her and said that there was nothing he could do. By this point my wife was very upset and could tell that i was just one tick away from exploding, so she, the baby, and my mother in law went outside. The manager still stood there and laughed about it, and all i was asking was for the waiter to come apologize for being so rude. Eventually the waiter walked by and gave some half assed "I'm sorry dude" type of apology.

I then handed my credit card to the waitress to pay the bill, while i was waiting for her to come back, this fat broad walks up to me and said that i had to leave because i was getting loud - she then said she was the owner's wife. I then walked into a corner of the restaurant with her and talked about what happened and she told me that i was being unreasonable thinking that they should have changing tables and said that we can't just change diapers where people eat. She also informed me that she had called the police to escort me out if i didn't leave (while i was waiting to pay my bill!) - i walked outside and the officer was a very nice guy and said that the only reason that they were called was because I was a bigger guy and the manager was afraid that he couldn't control me if i became violent - and the best part is that i never raised my voice!

I think the thing that got me the most pissed off, is that the manager was laughing in my face about it like it was just a big joke.

Moral of the story is that I'm telling this story to everyone that i can so that the word gets out and so that people know how i was treated at Leo's.

Unbelievable. You wonder how an operation like that stays in business. Did you leave a tip?

actually yes, i left our waitress a good cash tiip because she was very good, everyone else as an asshole - -BTW Leo's is one if the nicer places in howland - our dinner was almost $100 (for my wife, daughter and I - I had two drinks on there) - my in laws bill was probably around $45-50.

Fuckin' Dagos, always laughing at folks and messing around and shit.

YEAH!!! I beat BB73 to the draw on this one.

Seriously, Niles, Italian restaurant, you could end up like Caddilac Charlie or Luca Brazzia.

Either way, I wouldn't expect a restaurant to allow someone to change a diaper in an eating area whether customers are there or not.

If they need changing stations in the restrooms, that is one thing...I can see that much. However, I wouldn't want to eat at a table where a mother just finished changing her child's dirty diaper.

Why didn't she just go out to the car?

Well, you are thinking from teh point of view of somebody who has culture.

And not the point of view of somebody who looks like this:

considering arabs wipe their ass with their bare hand, i find your comments comical.

and, on a seperate note, i'm not surprised that this was the result at leo's. those folks always were assholes.

there were no guests in the upstairs portion where my wife went (private section for banquets).

i don't know why she didn't take her to the car, other than the waitress telling her it was OK. - and it wasn't like my wife tossed her on top of a table and just let her bare ass lay on the eating surface - she was on the floor, on a changing mat that we take everywhere.

I could would have understood them if she had done it in an area where people were eating or at a table, but this was a private room with nobody around and on the floor.
