LB Tommy ‘Two Thumbs’ Eichenberg (Rose Bowl Def MVP, All B1G, All-American, LV Raiders)

Lol Eich

It was a battle to convince Tommy Eichenberg not to play against Minnesota, Day said. "It was almost a fistfight, but I won. ... This is a guy that's put so much into this program ... I just explained to him, 'There's just too much on the line moving forward.'"

Love Tommy too. And hope he wins the award. But he should not have played against the cheaters. Obviously he was still injured and he was more of a detriment than he was an asset. Poor coaching decision that contributed to us losing the game.
I'm with you there. Tommy was our leader on defense and really was one of our best LBs we've had, but he was too hurt to play...not his fault at all, but play Hicks instead of Tommy having to play that hurt.

Apologies in advance for the "these damn kids today" rant. I was reading the 11w skull session and Eichenberg said his favorite player was Ray Nitschke and the writer of the article said he had to look up who that was. How are you a big enough football fan you write for a football website and you've never heard of Ray Nitschke? I get it, he played before you were born. He played before I was born too. That's pet peeve of mine, when people say they've never heard of something and that's a reasonable stance because it happened before they were born. Crack a book sometime, jeez. 8D *end rant*

Even without cracking a book, any half-decent football writer should have seen some NFL Films footage narrated by John Facenda that showed Ray Nitschke.

Of course, those NFL Films were created by Buckeye alum and NFL Hall-Of-Famer Ed Sabol.
