Stanley Ray White (born October 24, 1949 in Dover, Ohio) is a former American football linebacker.

Early life
Growing up in Kent, Ohio, he attended Theodore Roosevelt High School, graduating in 1968. He was the only player in Ohio to play in the state all-star games for football, basketball, and baseball.

Football career
College
He played college football at Ohio State University, where he was an All-Big Ten and All-American selection.[1]

NFL
Drafted in 1972 and retiring in 1982, White played for the Baltimore Colts and the Detroit Lions.

White scored two touchdowns, both from interception returns and both for the Colts; the first was in 1973 against the Houston Oilers from a George Hunt kick, the second coming against the New York Giants from a Toni Linhart kick in 1975.

US Football League
Following his depature from the Lions, White then played in the United States Football League for the Chicago Blitz and the Arizona Wranglers.

Broadcasting
Since 2007 White has worked as a color analyst for the Baltimore Ravens' radio broadcasts, teaming with Gerry Sandusky and Rob Burnett. He also contributes to other programming on Baltimore station WBAL-AM.

If money is the issue, White said, then he has a simple solution.

"Raise the ticket prices," he said. "But don't change the game. Charge more for that game and give the excess money to the other teams or whatever you have to do, because I guarantee you everybody will pay extra for that game anyway."

White said he knows what Hayes would think of moving the game.

"Woody would have no part of this," he said. "Woody would never let a decision be driven by money or television or anything like that. There's no way Woody wouldn't have put everything on the line to keep the game where it should be."

STAN WHITE SR, OSU linebacker from 1969-71

On being told of his son?s comment
?Well, I?m going to kick his (butt). I?ll talk to him about that. That?s ridiculous. I raised him better than that.? (He was laughing, kind of.)

?I?m reading stuff on it all the time and am dismayed that Ohio State?s leadership hasn?t stepped up more to back the game being the last game of the season. If they understand Ohio State football and the history of Ohio State football, they?d be very vociferous about keeping the game where it should be.?

?Put them in the same division and play it the last game. What?s the big argument, that they can?t (then) play for the championship? That?ll be for the championship to get to the championship.?

?It would sicken every guy who ever had an Ohio State uniform on if they change this game -- or a Michigan uniform, even though I would never put one on.?

I met Stan last night while watching one of my players at a high school basketball game. He talked so much about his son and grandson that it never registered to me that he was a former Buckeye player until this morning.

His grandson is a very good basketball player. A 14 year old freshman who is the first player off the bench for a solid varsity team.
